VW Golf

Thankfully, I have not had the problems most people on your site have had, but then again, I do not have the 1.8 engine. I have had to replace both head lamps, front turn signals, and every light in the tail (those you can do yourself though), the rear brakes needed replacing within 20,000 miles, which I found odd. Carter VW here in Seattle wanted to replace them but I figured I could do it cheaper and easier if I went to the brake guy by my house — glad I did. I have had problems with the timing belt and also the check engine light keeps going off. The dealer says it is because a cylinder keeps misfiring, but since there is “no reason for this to be happening” they cannot or will not fix it. Has anyone else had this problem? I realize cars have problems, but something does not seem right with VW. I had an Acura before this and a Honda before that, no problems with those of course. My wife and I just bought a Toyota last weekend. VW was not even a consideration, in case you are reading this VWoA.
