1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – Not heard of that one before, but now I’m worried that this will be my next problem…. Hope your clutch lasts (see my other posting)!
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – yeah,
we’ve had oil consumption problems as well | it seemed to start when our dealer went from synthetic oil to straight 10w-30 | i just switched back to synthetic and now ill see what happens
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – tracie,
I have oil sludging and had a oil pump replaced 3 months ago. now my passat is at the dealer awaiting an engine from germany.
IM SCREWED
You should change your oil every 3000 miles or 5000 highway.
People that wait to 7500 have been having this problem.
If you dont let the car cool before shutting the engine down.
The oil in the turbo will become carbon from the extreme heat of the exhaust manifold.
This is also called coking.
Then when the vehicle is started the carbon deposits move to the oil pan by the new pressure of the pump.
The deposits clog up the sump screen in turn causing damage.
No oil can flow.
I recommend anyone that has to access there oil pump for this condition, should wrap the pickup of the pump, with metal window screen.
Then tie wrap it in place.
This helps prevent clogging of the sump.
You see its the size of a dime at the pickup.
Also have a complete log of all oil changes before entering a dealer for warranty.
Use only oil with a spec of VW505 01
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – me again, I picked my passat yesterday and drove around the block from the dealership and notice a new noise from the engine compartment turn around and now Im having my turbo replaced.
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – My engine just seized on Monday. They want oil change receipts and now they want the type of oil that was used when changed. What problems have you had with VW since your engine seized? Are they fixing the problem?
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – This happened to me used Penzoil then Mobil 1. Motor blew at 100,000 miles. I did notice that the oil started to get very dirty quickly. I changed oil every 3,000 miles. VW Suck
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – Well what do you know I have dead engine with (oil sludging as the problem) I just sent in all of my oil change receipts. This car is so screwed!!! I’ve had countless problems with this 02 Passat 37k
miles. Is there anymore documentation of this out there?
1.8Turbo oil sludging…engine failure! – Yes I am having the same exact problem – I just paid $5125 for a “new” engine that failed on me again the same day I picked it up. What was the outcome of your problem?
