1999 Cabrio

I own a 1999 Cabrio that has 43K miles on it. The car has been in the shop 48 times and needs to go back this week. As I read through these postings, I’m blown away by how much we all have in common. Brakes at 25K? You bet. Rotors too, because “…on VW’s everytime you do pads you must do rotors..” Poor service? You bet. I had a service manager ask me if… “perhaps your boyfriend or husband could understand this better..” WHAT? You name it, it’s happened to my car. I have talked to people at all levels of the VW organization; they will comp the service at hand, but it doesn’t matter when the car’s in the shop so much – plus, who has the time to yell at VW EVERYTIME the car has an issue? I have resorted to doing the only thing possible which is to tell everyone that will listen not to buy a vw. To date, I’ve told over 300 people about my experience. I encourage the rest of you to do the same, and never to buy from VW again.

1999 Cabrio – My car has been in service for 30 days. I had to produce service records to hopefully get it fixed under warranty. My engine is getting replaced after 18k miles and I was harrassed that “I didn’t put the right oil in the car” which I did but the reality is VW shouldn’t build junk. I would never recommend anyone buying a VW. It took 1 week for them to get to my car and then 2 days to get VW to authorize the warranty work and now 2.5 weeks to get the parts and hopefully 1 week to fix the car. Not to mention they gave me a “loaner” that broke down. My brakes made sounds after 8k miles and my friend replaced his rotors and brakes at 20k miles and $800.00. I feel your pain.

1999 Cabrio – YOU RULE!!!!!!!!!!! I’m very sorry for your troubles. I’m having the same kind of problems with the dealer but my car only has 2700 miles on it and I’m on roughly 14 times in the shop. I think on my next car I just might get a plate # “VW SUK” on it just to reach more people!

1999 Cabrio – Your VW has been in the dealership 14 times in 2700 miles… basically about every 193 miles you have had to go for repairs?? Could you let us know specifically what problems you have brought your car to the dealership for each of the ‘roughly’ 14 times so we can see if there is a trend to your problems to our cars also?
