Glove box

The hinge on my wife’s 2000 jetta’s glove box has broken twice within the last year. I talked with two people at work who have/had jettas and they were surprised that the original one lasted so long. I’m used to the windows falling off their tracks but she stopped using the glove box after it broke the first time and it still broke again.
The air bag light has come on three times, I’ve replaced multiple sensors but the real kicker was when the flapper cap in the neck of the fuel tank fell into the tank preventing any gas from being pumped. I also thought that the rear brakes wore out prematurely. I’m currently involved with the dealer over the amount of oil the engine guzzels. By the way the car has under 30k on it. I should have listened to my wife and bought a Toyota.

My Shitty 25th Anniversary GTI…

Here’s what happened to my brand new GTI, yesterday:

I was driving to work yesterday, when suddenly I heard a loud cracking sound. My back door had flown off. I tried to pull over a second later, when my tire flew two lanes across the highway and broke someones window! And even after all this, I heard another scraping sound. I got out of my shitbox and noticed that the exhaust was dragging on the road. Just 1 day before this the car was in PERFECT condition (according to volkswagon standards *****en morons*)I then got back into my seat, but when I went to reach for my seatbelt, it fell off the side door. I shut the door, but it hung off one hinge. Shortly after I went to add some more windsheild washer, but when I opened the hood, the front bumper fell off. I GOT TWO WORDS FOR EVERYONE READING THIS: “”VOLKSWAGON SUCKS!”"

cold sart problems

Hi,
I don’t if your still looking at problems but I live in a very cold climate during the winters. My 2003 gti 1.8T has had a cold start problem the dealership cannot find. In the high rpm idle when starting it miss fires and if I put it in gear it tries to, and sometimes does, stall. I need to let it warm up for about a minute and it runs fine. They claim it is carbon build up. I’ve tried 3M and Chevron Valve Cleaner as well as TECHRON and it still does the same. It is highly suspect that it would build up so quickly. They have replaced thermostats, checked wiring, and can’t find a problem. It seems like a cold start valve, if there is one on the car. It doesn’t seem like it should be tough to find but they can’t find the problem even though the computer is registering misses in starting idle on 2 and 4. I am at 19,000 miles and am still under waranty. I am tempted to take it to a independent german/foreign car mechanic to see if they can find the problem. Part of me wants to sell the car but financially I can’t now, plus once it is up to temperature it is so much fun to drive… I am getting frustrated though. Does anyone have a solution?

At the dealer AGAIN

Here I sit at the VW dealer AGAIN for my VW Passat which has another problem which of course is not covered under the extra warranty I paid for. I used to drive a Geo Prism which lasted 150K miles before giving me any trouble. I find VW very unsympathetic to my cause…they aren’t interested in talking to me about the problems since they are not covered under warranty. But at least with this nice new waiting room I can sit and type this on their computer and leave it up for everyone to see!

2001 Passat Problems

My wife and I bought a 2001 Passat - New. We bought it in 2002.

Since we have had it there has been a recall for which they did replace the covered part. Something having to do with a faulty piston or cam.

We have also had problems with an emmisions light coming on.

The light prompted us to bring the car in for diagnostics. The test is $80 and is only covered by the extended warranty if the problem found is covered by the warranty.

So far everything diagnosed has been you guessed it not covered under warranty.

A week after having the vaccuum lines replaced, the cause of the emissions light, the light came back on again.

Needless to say I am regretting my letting my wife buy the Passat.

The thing that amazes me is that Consumer Reports lists the Passat annually as the best family car and a CR Best Buy.

There have also been some minor problems that when added to the larger ones further irritate us.

Bolts in wheel well - some have fallen out. That is not covered and they want us to pay $6 each to replace them.

The safety clip cover for the child safety seat will not and has not stayed on since we bought the car and because that is cosmetic they will not fix it.

I really wish I had listened to the myriad of others that owned VWs and not bought one myself.

Car not stuck in park it will move forward but slow and it wont move backward or push back

love for VW

I know that in the past year or so VW has had some concerns, but I feel they have stepped up to take care of them. I can understand why some of us are as upset as you may be. I had an other car that did nothing but put me at the dealer and now I am a VW owner.
