At the dealer AGAIN
Here I sit at the VW dealer AGAIN for my VW Passat which has another problem which of course is not covered under the extra warranty I paid for. I used to drive a Geo Prism which lasted 150K miles before giving me any trouble. I find VW very unsympathetic to my cause…they aren’t interested in talking to me about the problems since they are not covered under warranty. But at least with this nice new waiting room I can sit and type this on their computer and leave it up for everyone to see!

At the dealer AGAIN – I hear you. I still kick myself for letting my wife buy a VW. I wish I had listened to evryone about the reliability reports…

At the dealer AGAIN – i wish i had known about VW’s before i bought my piece of junk Jetta………… I have met every service advisor that works at the dealership…. we are on a first name basis now.

At the dealer AGAIN – HEJAVU, I challenge you to go to a GM Dealership and see if they will cover any repairs after your warranty has expired. Like if your door handle broke on your Geo Prism, see if they hypothetically would fix it after 150,000 miles.

At the dealer AGAIN – Well I feel Qualified to answer this question as Hejavu is my wife:
We bought the car NEW! We paid extra when we bought the car, NEW, for the 8 year 80,000 mile warranty. So to William who asked about GM covering a warranty that has expired, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? The car is still under warranty. The warranty seems to only cover recalls. Which of course you don’t need a warranty for in the first place.
To the VW Advisor: I guess buying a brand new VW Passat from a certified VW dealer and getting the warranty from them should qualify as not being aftermarket but of course it probably is knowing car dealers in general.
I am sorry we didn’t specify that the car was purchased new which has resulted in the confusion.

Plus her Geo Prism did not have these kinds of problems period so she never had to go to a GM dealer to see about them covering a warranty that had expired. Plus Volkswagon doesn’t even honor warranties that have NOT expired.

At the dealer AGAIN – ok, extended warranties will ususally only cover the internal engine and the internal transmission – a thing which your nice leather-clad finance manager will usually fail to tell you when your signing the dotted line. READ WHAT YOU SIGN. an extended warranty will NOT cover the entire car for an extra amount of time or mileage… no matter how much you pay for it.
CHAPTER 2 – RECALLS
recalls are repairs that the manufacturer knows the car needs… of course they’ll cover it seeing as how vw is paying for it. a recall can either happen when the mfr. recognises a problem while cars are on the assembly line (which is why you can buy a brand new car with recalls on it already) or when a seriously dangerous situation occurs and the mfr. is notified about it. ie.- the WK recall to replace the right rear wheel house lining. if the tire goes flat while you’re on the highway and you’re driving on the rim and sparks start to fly they can burn through the liner and supposedly start a fire because the gas tank is right there. now the chances of this happening are EXTREMELY low but vw does recognise the fault and of course they dont want that to happen. so to reply to your statement, no, you don’t need any warranty to have recall work performed.

At the dealer AGAIN – Ok what I was trying to say is that so far they have covered absoutely nothing that was not a recall. In other words every other problem (way too numerous to mention again) are all normal wear problems and not covered. So yes read before you sign. I unfortunately was not there when my wife bought the car so I couldn’t read it. I can tell you this though they meaning the dealership and all the problems with the car have made it so I will never buy another PoS VW again. It is strange though how nothing is covered in the warranty though, it might as well just say on it expires the second you unlock your car door for as usefull as it is.
VW is the most problematic brand imho.
