‘96 VW Passat

I OWN 1996 VW PASSAT. THIS CAR IS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. SINCE I OWN THE CAR MULTIPLE PROBLEMS ARRIVED: BREAKS (2 TIMES IN FIRST 2 YEARS), EXHAUST SYSTEM, O2 SENSORS (4 TIMES), MAIN WATER FLOW SENSOR, FROZEN DOOR LACKS, DOOR LACKED REPLACED. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BOARD WAS REPLACED AT 10,000 MILES. I USED A DEALER IN THE BEGINING TO “”KEEP VW AS ORIGINAL AS PASSIBLE”". BUT AFTER I REPLACED THREE TIMES O2 SENSORS AND ENGINE LIGHT KEEP COMING ON I DECIDED TO GO TO REGULAR SHOP. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY O2 SENSORS AR OK (DEALER SAID THEY ARE NOT); THEY SAID MY WATER FLOW SENSOR IS BAD. THAY REPLACED AND THE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. TILL NOW. NOW MY CAR IS IN A SHOP SINCE 5-14-04. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED MISFIRE ENGINE. THE COMPLETE TUNE UP WAS DONE. AFTER MECHANIC TEST-DROVE THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. IGNITION WIRE WAS BURNED OUT. COILS WERE REPLACED AND PROBLEM IS NOT SLOLVED. THE CAR IS STILL IN A SHOP. EVERY TIME MECHANIC PUTS NEW WIRES THEY ARE BEING BURNED OUT. 4 SETS OF WIRES WERE BURNED OUT. THEY CAN NOT RESOLEVE IT. IT COST A FORTUNE TO REPAIR THAT CAR. CAR IS NOT DEPENDABLE, DEALER MECHANICS ARE NOT HONEST, AND VW DEALER HEADQUARTERS SAYS “”WE STAND BEHIND OUR PRODUCT”"

‘96 VW Passat – I also would like to join a class action law suit. Let me know if you find one to join. I’ve owned the same car for just over two years. The car cost me $8500., and another $6500. in repairs. My inspection is overdue, and now I am looking at another $2100. just to pass inspection. Meanwhile, my AC still won’t work; my drivers seatbelt alarm will continue to beep perpetually. And my door handle will still be broken. Buying this car was the worst purchase I have ever made!

‘96 VW Passat – Reading the two posts is like reading a list of the work logs for my Passat over the past 4 years.

To your lists you can add Malfunctioning Sunroof, All four door handles failing, inside driver’s door handle busted, hood rlease cable too long so hood doesn’t open without serioius work, trunk release cable broken, absolutely refusal to start after a night sitting if there was any rain at all, stalls if even the smallets puddle his hit, vent door wheels closing on their own if the AC is on, vibrating tin plate in the engine compartment, both rear break callipers seizing if the weather drops below freezing (which also causes all 4 door latches to fail), Plastic dip stick receptical crubling, plastic weather shielding crumbling. The list actually goes on and on but my fingers are tired!

I too have been told it was the O2 sensors, then the gas, then it was that I ran the car with too low a fuel level, then it was the locking cap not sealing right… and all this from an independent repair garage!!! Maybe they’re getting the exact same training as the VW “”techs”" get, which has nothing to do wiht repairing the vehicle, and everything to do with diversion, stalling, and out and out lying. I’ve had it.

Please, anyone who comes across this, please let me know if there is something I can join (contribute) to. If I’m going to throw money into something I’d rather do it knowing that I have an actual chance for some value, instead of continuing to waste it on this pathetic hunk of junk.
