2002 Oil Pump
Well add one more VW customer that has been screwed. I bought a 2002 Passat in Aug. 2002. Before I had 5,000 miles on the car the one of the fuel injectors went. Then at around 7,000 miles I got hit with the igniton coil problem that everyone VW owner seems to have. Now with just over 22,000 on the car the oil pump is shot, and to no one on this sites suprise VW is not working with me to get this covered under the warranty. I have tried just about everything in my power to get them to realize that with only 22,000 miles on the car and records for oil changes this should be covered under warranty. Right now they are telling it will cost around $4,000 to make the repairs that they know about, but in the end the price could go up. I have never dealt with a company with such a poor customer realtions record, and I wish I would have saw this sight before I purchase the car. Right now I ma seeking legal advice, and letting as many people as I know how VW operates. I can say for a fact that I have turned at least 5 people away from buying a VW. Every little bit counts.

2002 Oil Pump – As a VW service manager I feel there must be more to this story. If you indeed have legitimate, verifiable, oil change receipts at 5,000 mile intervals since the car was new there is no reason for a dealer to deny your warranty for the repair. VW dealers are paid by VW to make such repairs. I love doing warranty work. The customer gets their car fixed for free and I make $$$. Now please be totally honest…have you done your oil changes as you should have?? Do you have actual receipts??

2002 Oil Pump – Typical VWOA response. What did YOU do to make our car break?? It COULDN’T have been us.
Did you read the sentence that included “”records for oil changes”"? Why is your first response an accusation against the owner?
Typical of VW. And the reason for this site.

2002 Oil Pump – WHOA RICK. I did not blame anyone. I just can’t understand why a VW service department would throw money out of the window. If the customer has legitimate oil change records (not phonies that his buddy at the gas station gave him) then I can see no reason why this is being denied. As I stated in my first reply.. I love doing warranty work, the customer gets their car fixed for free and the dealership gets paid by VW.

2002 Oil Pump – Rick,
Find another dealership. One that gets good customer service ratings. You can find one near you here: http://1.8t.org/dealers/
Your ignition coil problem should have been silently during one of the 5k/6mo. services.
Furthermore, isn’t this a drivetrain issue? Your 2002 is covered to 50,000 miles, so yes, this should be a warranty repair.
Find a better dealer. They do exist.
