Thanks for helping me out. I did do as you suggested in regards to the transmission. It does run better. I still detect rough shifting sometimes especially when going for the first drive of the day. If I do this more often, will this go away altogether??? My engine is a 2.0 engine. The stalling is weird - hopefully you will have some suggestions on that. The ticking is only noticed at idle. Wait 2 minutes.

Start the engine.

Go for a drive. It might jolt when you first shift to D, but after that the program should start relearning.

Should be covered now to avoid those issues. The transmission is an automatic. The symptoms are difficult to diagnose. They are never ""triggerable"". abrupt shifting when it wants to, smooth when it wants to. I think I will talk to the dealer tomorrow but have nothing to go on. They looked at me like I was crazy when I suggested a computer reprogramming to correc the problem. I know I am not crazy. All I want is a reliable car.
