99 beetle sucks – Where did you buy it? Which dealership?
How many previous owners? How many miles Did you check its vehicle history on Carfax or a similar agency?
What engine/style is your NB?
What gas do you use?
Give as much info as you can, and maybe we can figure out the car’s problems.

99 beetle sucks – I bought this car from a local dealership. They didnt even want to work on the car when it was under warranty. The car had one owner prior to me. I have to use mid grade gas it does not run great on unleaded. When i got the car there was nothing posted on carfax. I bought the car with 48,000 miles. The transmission went 62,000 miles and 4,000 miles later im not having the problem. The engine is a 2.0L . It has had a vaccum leak which is now fixed. Replaced the distributor cap was fried. This just seems very weird for everything to be happening now not when i bought the car july 03. If you can’t give me some pointers that would be great. I just can’t afford to be putting much more $$$ into this car.

99 beetle sucks – Hmm… try using 87 octane, it’s all you need for a 2.0L. Also, you might try dumping a bottle of Techron when the tank is nearly empty, then filling up the tank to full with Chevron gas. This should put a pretty high amount of cleaner in the system which might work (your mileage will be lower than usual for that tank of gas). Try driving on the freeway for over half an hour at a constant speed of 60mph while on this tank of gas.
You might want to have the fuel filter replace. You might also check to see if the air filter needs replacing.
The throttle body may also require cleaning.
