2003 Jetta – Paul,
Don’t play stupid! Obviously a TDI with the infamous and chronic carbon (diesel exhaust/oil coking) that chokes the intake and EGR valve causing these cars to lose power and/or run poorly.
100% of all TDI’s will experience this malady before 100K miles on vehicles with operational (unmodified) EGR systems.

2003 Jetta – I was not playing stupid; I don’t have a TDI and I’m less aware of its problems.
You can clean the manifold yourself if you’re up to it. Follow the instructions from TDIClub.

2003 Jetta – Yes it was the intake manifold and it is a well known problem to everyone. I bitch is that Volkswagen will not help with the cost. I need to know how as a consumer can we put pressure on them through state and federal agencies as well as public pressure??
