‘01 GTI brake lights

I have a 2001 GTI 1.8T that I have had my fair share of problems with. For the past year or so everything had been great. I’ve got 50k on it now. So here’s the problem. I got home last night and the brake lights (all three) will not go off. Could this be the sensor at the brake pedal? Also wondering if this is something the dealer should fix? I called SONNEN MOTOR CARS today and they said they were to busy to deal with it. Word of advice, do not buy a car at Sonnen in San Rafael, California!! Any help would be great!

    ‘01 GTI brake lights – Brake light switch, which is a common problem and may be covered (not entirely sure which models and years have the extended warranty for this part).
