$34/liter for ATF!
For my first oil change, I mistakenly drained the automatic transmission fluid from my Tiptronic transmission (2004 Jetta TDI). Yes, I know that was stupid, but the oil pan was hidden under a plastic cover and the transmission was exposed with a nice, big drain plug availible for some poor sucker like me. I knew as soon as the red fluid came out that I had opened up the wrong compartment, but didn’t think much about it since automatic transmission fluid isn’t that expensive…right? Wrong! The dealer said the fluid costs $34/liter and it would take 5 or 6 liters. I found the fluid on line for half that amount and with shiping it was under $20, which is still outragious. Figuring out how to know when the transmission was full was also an adventure. I ordered 4 liters and it only took a little under 3 liters. BTW, I understand this is suppose to be lifetime fluid. Does anyone believe that?

$34/liter for ATF! – Again, this is not a VW issue. This a another example of completly stupid idiots dorking around where they shouldn’t.
Here is tip, learn which big metal thing is the trani and which is the engine before you stop popping bolts fool.
What a fool.
BTW, 140K on my Golf, no trani issues. Maybe it is lifetime fool.

$34/liter for ATF! – Wonder why so many VW slushboxes are failing left and right -
1. Lack of oil filtre
2. Lack of fluid change.
“”lifetime”" fluid is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.
