Stupid me!
well i droped my key once again last night… now it no longer works.. the little red light does not come on when i press a botton, nothing works… now i have to buy a new key i think.. 150 bucks!!! ouch!!! LOL, now this would be the place where someone else would say…”" if VW made the quailty of the key better then it wouldnt have broke “” blah blah… this like many other peoples problems is my fault…what i mean by that is there are many ppl on here complaining about things that they could have prevented themselves and stop blaiming VW… but what i am making this post for is to see if anyone would know if there is a way to fix this myself or a cheaper place to buy a new key or just any ideals at all… thanks

Stupid me! – Interesting, I saw a documentary in the German news channel a couple of months ago, about the key factory that makes the remote keys for VW and other manufacturers. They had a segment in there where they did drop tests on the key/remote units. Supposed to be able to take a regular drop to the ground with no problem, so you might have gotten a lemon of a key unit there. Just try opening it up and fiddle around inside it could be just a loose connection with the battery caused by the impact.

Stupid me! – I take it the remote portion only is not working? You should be able to replace the remote only portion if that is the problem, there are two different types, square or round. How you tell the difference is if the top of the lock button is square you will need part number 1J0-837-246-F-R0H for $58.08, if round it will be 1J0-837-246-D-R0H for $58.08. They can be purchased at any dealer. You can also find them on e-bay. To program is easy also, if it is the remote, email me and I will send you instructions on how to program the remote.

Stupid me! – You gave the number for the key half, the remote half is going to be a 1j0959753f(93.83) or a 1j0959753t(82.77). I would check the batteries first, make sure the connection is still good, the batteries are still good, etc. If they don’t fix it you will need a new remote. The remotes seem to be good, though the faces tend to wear off rather quickly, and don’t get them anywhere near water.

Stupid me! – vdub, where did you get your part numbers? The VW Parts Catalog (ETKA) gives the part numbers I have listed and the MSRP for those in the catalog. You might want to check your source and make sure they have updated your catalog, unless they are aftermarket remotes.

Stupid me! – I will check my part numbers in the morning though and make sure I am correct. I might be wrong, if I am I will correct myself and apologize.

Stupid me! – I got mine from ETKA as well. The ROH should actually be an INB, the system usually switches it over to ROH though when you type it in. The key half uses those numbers, the remote half should not have those behind them at all though.

Stupid me! – First of all, I apologize, VDub you are correct in the part numbers, the number I gave was the keys not the transmitters. Wrote the numbers down, not in the right order. My mistake. I did check again with our parts manager though, the INB is showing up as an old number that superceeded to the ROH. At least that is what Parts on Command is telling us and our Era system.

Stupid me! – FYI for anyone who is reading this.. all that was wrong with my key is the battery was out of place.. all that had to be done is pull off the top of the key, take the back off and put the battery in place.. now everything works good!

Stupid me! – You really are “stupid”; it would have taken less time to check the battery than to make this dumb post, and definitely seemed like the logical first step.

Stupid me! – too bad i did not know how to take the battery apart, and it happened on a sun so i couldnt go to the dealership, and mon morning i had to work unlike you probably… and it got fixed first thing mon afternoon when i got off work… so maybe before you say some stupid ass thing like you did.. you should know what really happened and not assume that you know it all… stupid ass kid!

Stupid me! – jasenm, I have NO IDEA what you’re getting at. I strongly recommend the use of punctuation from time to time.
And dude, don’t be surprised that people bash VW here… I mean, the name of the site should have tipped you off.
