VW Beetle

Can you believe it has been sealed so tight you can’t close the boot without denting it unless you close at the bottom, no mention in the manual, but it can’t be loosened as fumes might come in the car so the seal is so tight it can float on water.
Of course it will loosen in time when a few more dents have been made. Brand new in March.

VW Beetle – Perhaps she means the car interior is sealed enough that if she doesn’t use the inner handles off the trunk to close it, and instead pounds her fist from the outside to knock it down, the air inside the cabin has no outlet and therefore resists her efforts?

That’s the best I could make out of it.

Not sure about the dents thing, though.

VW Beetle – Geeze, and I thought you guys are Volksyugo experts. This tight seal on Beetles is almost considered as something traditional with Beetles. I remember my brother’s Beetle from the 70’s having the same problem, if you might call it that, of having such a well sealed body structure that we had to slam the door extra hard just to make the doors latch. It’s actually a feature that I liked with the old Beetle. It’s body was constructed and sealed so well that it made you feel like that it’s as strong as a tank and it would float on water if you ever fell off a bridge. I also seem to remember some ads from back then boasting about the tight body sealing on their Beetles by showing them submerged in water with dry people inside.

VW Beetle – well they way this person presented her post makes no sence unless you have the same problem or just happen to know what she is talking about.. now that you say something about the doors and they way they shut and how tightly the car is sealed… i know what your talking about.. my car is the same way.. i have to really close the doors hard to compleatly shut… i dont like to slam doors so it takes me like 3 tries everytime i get in my car… and usally i just open the sunroof or crack a window before i close my door… i own a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 1.8T… i dont think of it as a bad thing the car is like this.. i mean its good that the car seals tight that way when im running the AC in the summer it all stays in the car… summer temp is on the avg. of 105 here, so a good sealed car is very important… Thanks

    VW Beetle – Clint,
Be careful when you close your doors with the windows not fully up, If you slam them hard enough, you could break the glass holding clips and drop your window in the doors. That’s how the Service Department in one VW dealership dropped my driver’s side door glass into the door and tried to blame it on me. When they couldn’t blame it on me, they just said “”tough luck, it just decided to break while we were servicing your car”". I protested to the manager which then produced a service technician that screams at me in front of his boss and other customers that I was the problem cause I don’t trust them. Sorry, I bring my car into your shop for it to get fixed not broken by you dolts! So I called the area rep who then ordered the service department to fix the door glass with no charge. Why couldn’t Volksyugo service guys just use their heads and not stress out their customers, I just can’t figure it out. Getting back to your car windows, Make sure you do not slam the door too much with the glass down. I always make sure all my windows are close before closing my door and I never have a problem with the windows dropping from their tracks like a lot of Volksyugo owners do.
Sorry for the long rant. I just want to explain further why I do not like Volksyugo.

VW Beetle – well i have this gift… when soething is wrong with my cars… my honda or now this Jetta.. when i go in to have whatever fixed i tell them what i will pay for and what they will pay for and it always seems to work out in my favor… but maybe it is because every place i take any car to fix… i know either the owner of the general manager personally, so i get my way… just say i had my window down and i closed my door a little too hard and the clip broke and the window fell into the door… i would just tell my local VW dealer, where i know the service manager, that every since i took in there the last time the window has acted up and seemed lose.. i just never brought it in bc it was fully broken… and that they HAVE to be at fault bc before the last visit the window worked just fine!!
Well thanks for the advice, now i have a “”story”" already made up in case of this problem…

VW Beetle – By the way the original window clips that failed, were made by an american company. It is amazing that a GERMAN company made the updated clips that replaced the american ones that broke. Also, if you have a problem with the front windows falling down in a Golf, Jetta, New Beetle, go in to the dealer and they will repair them at no charge, as long as you do not try and fix them yourselves. They are covered for 8 years no mileage restriction! Again, if your vehicle is under warranty, or falls under a warranty extension, why not take advantage of it? Also the record for a beetle floating, is I believe, 42 minutes.

VW Beetle – well my 1989 civic hatchback has had no problems at all… just normal wear and tear.. the only thing i have replaced on the car is the struts… and thats bc i blew them out from lowering it… but the thing is i have bassically replaced everything in/on the car b/c i have made it into a show car… but i had the car for about 2-2 1/2 yrs with nothing going wrong with it at all…
Now on the other hand my mother bought herself a 2003 accord and that thing had a ton of shit go wrong with it within the first yr… AC overcharged, CAT went bad, trunk seals bad, headlights dim while driving, reverse lights dont work, brakes make “”clicking”" sound when applyed, driver side door panel bubbling… i mean there is more but i cant think of it all, too much to care about… so like many people have said… every car company has its up and down… there are some good vw’s and there are some bad ones… just like honda, toyota.. everone…80% good, 20% bad… and i know this site was made so people who have been screwed by VW could make note… and i understand that.. well thats enough for now, any other q’s ill be happy to answer them!!
