A BMW in Los Angeles is not much of a status symbol -- everyone has one (I kid you not). I also find Audis far more comfortable than BMWs on the inside. Think of the G35 platform... a G35 Coupe is around $35k, but you can get a lighter, faster variant in the 350Z... but now instead of a comfortable driving environment you're in a rattling, cheap interior. If all you want is performance, buy a Neon SRT-4 -- those things are ridiculously cheap for the performance in speed and handling, and can be upgraded by the DEALER with go-fast parts. An Acura is far more comfortable and has a better interior than a Honda... so yes, engine wise, handling wise, you're not seeing much of a difference -- the price tag is based on the seats, the surfaces, the A/V system, the driver controls and options. New Audi – V8. Quattro. Luxury.
