93 VW Pasat GLX VR6

This is the worst car in the world! We have been plagued with problems ranging from overheating, belts, alignment and ignition! This car is impossible. Caveat Emptor on used car buyers for this make and model. All windows including sun roof, door handles have failed. What a complete lemon.

Clutch Issues GTI VR6

My ‘02 GTI GLX has just under 30K miles & I’m taking it in for the 30K scheduled maintenance later this week. I’ve had it for about a year & it’s still under the certified pre-owned warranty.

Last winter I had problems with the clutch sticking to the floor once the temp began to drop(I live in DC). I asked my dealer to look at it & they told me everything was according to spec. but they told me they lubed the clutch. The fix helped to some extent but I still had to be careful until the car was fully warmed. It’s getting colder now, I think it’s going to be an issue again.

Has anyone else had issues with this?

Also, it may be all in my head, but I feel like the clutch isn’t engaging as early as before…no slipping, but could I be due for a new clutch already??? I know 30K is not unheard of, but if I’m going to replace the clutch I think I want to go with a stronger aftermarket clutch & have the luxury of shopping around to find someone who will do it for a reasonable price instead of having to get towed to the dealer & beg for mercy.

Any thoughts?

Taillights

The taillights on my 99 Golf GL don’t seem to last more than 2 hours of driving. I’ve spoken to a number of other vw drivers and they seem to have the same problem, but I can’t find anything on the www regarding this topic. As most of you can probably sympathize, bringing this problem up to the dealership resulted in frustration, money spent, and more burnt out taillights. I’ve taken this up with vw corp office…but no reply yet. Anybody out there have this problem? Any solutions recommendations out there? I’m tired of spending my time and money at the dealership.

99 Jetta…no fan, day lights,

I got my 99 Jetta Wolfsburg in 2000 used. I have had a rear passanger window problem that I have yet to get fixed but my problem now is this…..I start my car, I let out the e-break and the break light on the dash goes out…but not all the way. It is just sort of dim. Then my day time running lights are off…my fan and my wipers don’t work. My blinkers are good to go. My headlights and dash lights don’t work. Am I looking at a sensor here? I checked the fuses and they seem okay. Here is the tricky part. I doesn’t do it every time. Sometimes it is okay..sometimes it is broken. This is very frustrating!! However, this is one of the few problems I have had with my Jetta and I love it.

26K and clutch completely gone??

So I have a 03 1.8t Jetta, the only “mod” I have is a drop-in K&N filter. I recently lost the clutch entirely at 26K and had to get the car flatbedded to the dealership. So I am disapointed but confident that VW would make this right with such low milage. Let me go back a little ways. I felt my clutch starting to slip around 500 miles prior and took it in and they charged me 100 (which is normal) for a fuel injection cleaning, and then went to tell me that they would have to charge me $450 just to see if it was my clutch. That my warranty for my clutch had just finished after a year. Well, needless to say I went for info elsewhere and wanted to double check on the prices VW has given me. Make a long story short. I made a formal complaint to VW after being advised that my total for fixing would be 2100 dollars. This was for a pressure plate, clutch, flywheel and labor. After filing the complaint I was told that a sales rep. would take a look at the car because he was going to be in town. I received a call back from VW telling me that it was not possible for the sales rep. to make any decisions on helping me unless he could see the part, even though I was advised by VW to not start the work cause it would be more difficult to get VW to pay for it if work was already in progress. The sales rep. got to VW here in Greenville, NC and took one look at the car and told the service man. that if the part was faulty VW would pay for it, but if it was worn, then it would be out of my pocket. Keep in mind, no loaner car is available for me, just a discount on renting a car myself. So I am to guess that yes, they are going to see wear on the clutch(since I drove it after the slipping occured cause they tried to charge me 450 to tell me if it was my clutch). What are your opinions on this situation and what would you do in this same situation. Also, my car is leased, always get serviced on time and don’t race it in any way. Any info would help and let me thank you in advance.
