Haunted GTI?

Tis the season and how do I know? Well, the battery on my GTI is draining for no reason. It has done this twice since I bought it new in 2001. Oddly, I seem to have a car problem every December! I have also noticed that the car “locks” itself with and without the keys in it. Has anyone else experienced this? Hopefully, I will only need to replace the battery and not something more expensive.

    Haunted GTI? – Replace the battery for sure. Once a battery fully drains it no longer functions properly — having it drain twice pretty much compromises it beyond acceptable limits.

    As for the locking problem, in what situation do they lock? This may be part of the battery losing power problem, or a faulty door switch.
