Sorry, Another Oil Consumption Question

Forgive me for asking another oil consumption question.

Are there any official sources that document the problems of excess oil consumption on Jettas with the 2.0 manufactured in 2002? My Jetta is consuming consistently over the life of the car about 0.5 litres of oil every 2000 kilometers. Outside of people I know who have very old vehicles with leaky gaskets, I have never heard of anyone ever having to top up oil even remotely to this extent in between oil changes!

Thanks

Lorne

Sorry, Another Oil Consumption Question – Is there any documentation that identifies the problem with the piston rings e.g. a TSB and if so what would the number be. I understand that the piston ring problem was well known for early Mk IV’s but what about Jettas built in early 2002?

Sorry, Another Oil Consumption Question – Ask your dealer about the piston seals — some were mislabeled at the factory and installed upside down, causing oil loss.

Sorry, Another Oil Consumption Question – Check out the TSBs on your vehicle.

Here is a site dedicated to oil burning difficulties with VWs.

    (Must be a common problem?)
