Why?

So let me get this strait,…the purpose of this site is to gather people together to whine about another bad car company. I have done a search and found that there is a site like this for pretty much every major car company in buisiness(ford, mitubishi, honda, chevy, Toyota). Yet all these car companies are still in buisiness and there are evidently many more satisfied customers that fustrated ones. My opinion(and I am of coarse expecting it to get shot down) is that we shouldn’t be spending so much time griping about our problems. It seems that they aren’t getting us anywhere. Yes I understand that the majority of you have had some pretty serious, or just annoying problems with your VWs and I have had my share, but are we doing any good? No, I think that it would be better for all you dissatisfied/fustrated people to sell or fix your car and get rid of it for some other terrible car made by a different company. Better yet try public transportation because I don’t think you really can be satisfied.
Is conclusion I would have to say despite the fact that what VW or some VW dealership has done terrible things to you, maybe you should be working on getting over it rather that dwelling on the fact. You do realize that you are complaining to people who are already convinced that VW sucks?

Well in any case, that’s my opinion.

Why VW Sucks.

Because the new MkV Jetta looks like a Toyota Camry mated to a Honda Accord.

GAH!

Fed Up

My 02 Jetta 2.0 was purchased new and has under 40k. It has been in the shop approximately 20 times excluding regular maintanance. I can’t put up with this car any more
I have written to VW with my complaints. What amount/if any in compensation/buy back can I expect from VW? If they are not cooperative, any suggestions on what legal recourse I might have? By the way I am a Canuck, so U.S. law would not be helpful.

Your e-mail address now protected!

In yet another in a long series of tremendous yet horribly slow enhancements to this site, your e-mail address will NEVER appear on this site (unless you explicitly post it).

For those who chose to show email addresses during registration, people can send email through this site without ever revealing an address. Yay me.

Soon (meaning years and years from now) you will be able to edit your profile to allow contact by other members. That’s next on the list.

Come on now…. WHO da man?

VW Customer Satisfaction up 5.3 points from last year.

Detroit News
Yahoo! Finance
J.D. Power 2004 APEAL Brand Rankings

To skeptics and naysayers: this is what you wanted, right? For VW to improve customer relations, that would typically mean better service and more reliability, so why not rejoice? You complained, VW answered, it’s no longer the bottom of the barrel.

Of course, if you’d rather continue to complain, I suppose it’s absolutely unacceptable that VW jump only to above the industry average rather than leap to the Top 5 after being second to last just last year!

In before the car leaves the port.

The Golf MkV will make its debut in the US next year. It is a completely new design, so buyer beware.

On the other hand, buyer salivate.

Aside from the full complement of safety equipment, the car will not require service till 19,000 miles or 24 months. It features a DSG transmision as economical as a manual, has an independent rear suspension, and will feature the new 200hp turbocharged FSI (fuel stratified injection) engine or a base 150hp 2.5L five cylinder engine (five??).

Buyer be wary.

The pricetag will be higher than previous Golfs/Jettas, and I hate to see VW continue this trend. By doing this, it is now directly competing with the likes of the Mazda 3 and possibly the BMW 1 and 2 series. Of those, I have to be honest and say I prefer the looks of the Mazda 3. But the engine, transmission, and suspension changes in the Golf are enticing.

If anything, I’d wait till the 2007 model to let VW work out the kinks on these new engines (the electronics should be fine for the 2006 model coming out next year, since VW has had this car out in Europe long enough to catch any problems, but this does not include possible manufacturing problems at American assembly plants due to lack of training on the new platform).

I look forward to a new generation of complaints. Or maybe I won’t. I won’t know a thing about the MkV, since my knowledge is specifically centered on the MkIV. That is, of course, unless I manage to convince my better half on a new Jetta Wagon. ;)

2001 Jetta New Problem Daily

OK here is my tragic Jetta story. I purchased a 2001 Jetta with 3 miles on it — I drove it about 50 miles and parked …when i tried to reverse the transmission would not work AT ALL! I along with the Jetta on the back of a tow truck went back to the dealership where they tried to give me a rental until they could fix the problem …ummm a radio, window maybe…but not moving …I dont think so. I had to argue until they just told me to choose another one from their lot … this one seems to have the same “legendary” VW craftsmanship as everyone else who has posted here …bad window (mine still isnt fixed), peeling interior, lent trapping seats, scratch-loving exterior, and last but not least my newest problem where I park and then my EPC light comes on and I am stuck there until I stomp on the brake for 10 minutes until it recognizes I am there pressing the brake and it lets me put it into gear. I would take it to my “A+” VW Service but I cant afford it because I had to pay for my 40K maintenance. If only the light would stay off long enough for me to trade — maybe I would have better luck with a KIA.
