2000 Beetle won’t pass smog

Time for my first smog test on my 2000 Beetle, and to my surprise, it wouldn’t pass. (Ok, maybe I saw this one coming.) Apparently their smog facility’s equipment couldn’t communicate with my car’s computer, and I needed to take it to the dealer for repair. As the car still falls under its 80,000 mile Emissions Warranty, I assumed that it shoud be covered. Wrong! Somehow the yahoos at VW were able to blame the communication problem on stereo interference. So when I picked up my car and my bill, I also found my factory stereo sitting on my seat and a recommendation to purchase a new stereo at $300 plus installation. Ummm…can someone please explain the correlation between my emmissions and my factory installed stereo. Someone must be getting a good laugh at my expense. Thanks Volkswagen.

I’m just another number.. Clutch problems

Well here I am… stuck at home I thought this wouldnt happen to me. There is a little over 60 thousand miles on my 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 1.8T. On sat Oct 30, as I was driving my car around town I noticed that my clutch as acting weird, but it still drove just fine and wasnt slipping or anything. So I didnt think much of it. On Sun. Oct. 31, I go outside to start my car so I can go over to my gfs apt. When I sit down in my car and push the clutch init goes about of the way to the floor without any resistance. I immediately come inside and tell my dad about the problem he comes out and feels it and says… Holly shit, there is no hydraulic fluid in the reservoir tank. So we get to looking around and can not locate the tank. So I just leave the car parked and dont drive it so I can take it in on Mon. Nov. 1st. This morning when I go out to start it, it starts up ok, I let it warm up a little b/c its starting to get cold here in Tucson, AZ when I get ready to leave, I get in my car, sit down and push in the clutch, same feeling.. about of the way to the floor no resistance I go to put it into reverse and it grinds like crazy there is no clutch. I am told that it might be the master cylinder, or the slave drive I dont know… now its at the dealership… this is shitty!!! I can not believe that this has happen to me…lol I have read so many ppl posts that have had clutch problems and now I am just another number well if anyone has any input, or maybe can tell me what you think it might be… let me know ill keep this post updated when I hear from the dealership and let everyone know whats going on.
