Orphan Cars

Sales of VW cars in the US fell three years in a row. VW sold 50,000 less cars in 2004. At that rate sales will approach zero in five years. VWoA’s chief executive stated that VWoA lost 1.6 billion dollars last year. I cannot see VAG’s shareholders letting this continue. I can see VW pulling a Fiat and leaving the American market. If that happens, where does that leave the people that bought VW’s?

R32 GTI

Has anyone out there had any encounters with the R32 GTI’s?

I’m not seriously thinking about buying one at this point, but I was wondering if anyone on this site has had any (good or bad) experiences with them? Any known reliability issues or design flaws?

Concept Car

VW has shown a concept car that showcases all new concepts for VW. It works. The car will probably not go into production but VW can at least say that they have a car that works.

Problems with a week old car

I just bough a 2005 Passat one week ago today. Already had it in the shop one day. The connectors to the floor heating were not hooked up correctly. Today the gas gage went haywire.

Is this what I have to look forward to?

5 Cylinder?

Did I read right? The new vehicles are going to have 5 Cylinders? Audi isn’t digging up the old five cylinder that they had such trouble with, are they? They really are getting desperate. They probably had the tooling stored away in the corner somewhere and decided to drag it out.

Sales Figures

VW’s sales figures in the US fell for the third year in a row. I can understand this. The number of people screwed by VWoA is reaching a critical mass and people are realizing what POS VW vehicles are. However, they are reporting that the sales figures for December took an upswing. This I cannot understand. Did VWoA make a major push in December so as not to get beat out by BMW? It appears that BMW sales edged out VW.

1999 PASSAT 1.8T CAN’T START IN COLD DAY

I HAD A VW PASSAT WAGON 1999 MODEL, 1.8T, I HAD THE PROBLEM WITH STARTING THE CAR AT VERY COLD WINTER DAY, SAY -15 DEG C, WHEN THE CAR IS STILL BRAND NEW, 2 MONTHS OLD, I COULD NOT GET THE CAR STARTED, THAT DAY WAS ABOUT -20 DEG. C, WITH WINDCHILL FACTOR ABOUT -35 TO 40 DEG C. FORTUNATELY, I HAVEN’T SOLD MY VOLVO 940 TURBO, IT WAS A 10 YEARS OLD CAR, AND IT JUST STARTED WITHIN SECONDS. I BROUGHT THE PASSAT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG.
JANUARAY 2005, AGAIN, WITH -15 DEG C , MY CAR CANNOT STARTED, I CHARGED THE BATTERY, EVEN WITH BOOSTER BATTERY, IT WOULDN’T STARTED. THE CAR HAS TO TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FIXING. THEY SAID ENGINEE IS FLOODED. CHANGED THE ENGINE OIL, SPARKED PLUGS, CLEAN THE FUEL INJECTOR. NOW IT WORKS. BUT , I STILL WORRY , WINTER HAS NOT GONE YET. ACTUALLY, MY CAR IS PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICED BY DEALER TWO MONTHS BEFORE WINTER COME, AND EVEN I USE SYMTHETIC ENGINEER OIL

I DONT THINK VW PASSAT IS MADE FOR CANADIAN WEATHER, THEY HAVE TO DO MORE RESEARCH TO IMPROVE ON COLD DAY STARTING. I WILL DEFINATELY NOT BUYING VW AGAIN IN THE FURTURE.

ONE GOOD THING ABOUT VW PASSAT, THEY HAVE VERY GOOD HANDLING EVEN THE ROAD IS PILED WITH THIN LAYER OF SNOWS, I CAN STILL DRIVE FAST WITHOUT REDUCING THE NORMAL DRIVING SPEED.

VW advertisement

I assume we’ve all seen this…

VW Suicide Bomber spoof

It’s sick and offensive and, on some twisted level, funny, and VW is mad as hell about it … becoming public. Seems that they actually had it produced for some unknown reason.

2001 Jetta 1.8T

We have this jetta for about 6 months. When my BF picked it up, I noticed the idle was off, and it was not constant. Then the check engine light appeared and has never turned off. Also, the engine seems to lag under 3000 rpm. And apparently the engine has just shut off for no reason other than turning a corner, and or going up a hill. Thought it was the O2 sensor changed that, reset the computer, and the car chugged when it was in drive - and slowly started to kick in. Now the coolant light keeps comming on and the coolant levels are fine. Something is clogged and I am not sure what. Definately will not goto the VW dealership for service. To much $$$ and I can never get an appointment.

Any suggestions?
