What is going on with my oxygen sensor!?
I just left my local VW dealership with the same news I’ve gotten over and over and over and over again. Faulty O2 sensor. I have a 2001 Jetta. I asked for a history report which indicates this happening over 10 times. Is there anything I can do? With a faulty O2 sensor I go through a tank of gas in 2 days, which is excellent because I have to drive on this faulty sensor for at least 2 weeks until the dealership has to work on my vehicle. This time I stormed out letting everyone know that my vehicle is a piece of JUNK. Any help would be great, thanks.

What is going on with my oxygen sensor!? – O2 sensors are rarely the problem. I would check the MAF first.

What is going on with my oxygen sensor!? – The mass air flow sensor? Can I do that myself? Would it be the MAF even if my O2 code keeps going off? I do not know too much about cars, so maybe that sounds ignorant.

What is going on with my oxygen sensor!? – The O2 sensor code comes up for many reasons. It simply reports if the mixture is running lean, rich, or it can’t find a signal.
Now, if the code is that it doesn’t have a signal, THEN the O2 sensor is damaged, dirty, or dead.
But the typical code that pops up is a rich or lean condition, meaning something is fouling the mixture.
The usual culprit for bad fuel/air ratios is the MAF, the mass airflow sensor that sits in the intake right after the air filter.

What is going on with my oxygen sensor!? – Well, I finally got VW to give me a loaner car while they work on it. I will mention the MAF. I am just so tired of being inconvenienced by this. Has anyone else had this problem?
