I agree with everything this author has written, particularly the bit about not addressing the correct market and the unfortunate strength of the euro.

VW: The Wrong Focus (A Forbes article from 4/13/04 but still relevant) – Paul, you are making me worry.
I worry that VW is looking more toward higher end upscale models, when they cant build a good $22,000 Jetta or $30,000 Passat.
I worry that they lost $1.6 billion in the US in 2004. (much more than the euro could influence)
I worry that units were down 15%301,666 units in 2003 and 256,111 units in 2004.
I worry too much.

VW: The Wrong Focus (A Forbes article from 4/13/04 but still relevant) – Hence, the wait and see for this new generation. After all, the Jetta and the Golf are in a year earlier than stated in the article, so VW is doing something.
