2001 Jetta alarm problem
When I arm the car it does not always chirp. All doors, hood, and trunk are secure. The lights flash and the red light starts to blink but no chirp. The horn and panic work everytime. Then out of the blue it will start to chirp again when I arm the vehicle. I rolled the windows down and armed it then opened the doors, the alarm went off every time exact for the driver door. The dome light sometimes does not come on also when I open the driver door. So it has to be that door but where is the sensor or button located that indicates when the door is open or closed. Can these two problems be related ,but then the car would not arm if the door was not registered closed. Any input would help thank you for your time

Me too. – I have a 2001 Golf that just started having the same behavior. I was vacuming the car out (leaving the driver’s door open), and the car re-arm’s itself, and the alarm goes off. I immediately unlock the doors with the key fob, and it does it all over again. I also noticed the key doesn’t chime in the ignition when it’s turned off and the driver’s door opened, and the dome light doesn’t always come on when the door is opened. All these problems seem as if it may be linked to the car not recognizing the door’s open or closed (door sensor?). If you can, let me know how the dealer resolved the problem, and the cost. Thanks!

2001 Jetta alarm problem – Replace the driver’s side door lock module. That’s the part that frequently causes odd behavior with the alarm.
