watched it again....... - yes he modded it......just added replacement intake plumbing, that's all. still rocking stock turbo. nothing that would cause it to fail sooner. all the replacment piping does is decrease the air restriction from the turbo to the intake. will not hurt/harm/or cause the turbo to go out like it did. that pure and simple is a prime example of how shitty the turbos on VW's are...and if you pay close attention what catches fire is the heat wrap that actually goes around the turbo.....then the firewall insulation catches next and spreads super quickly to the inside...a firewall is suppose to be just that, a firewall. that fire is spreading way way too fast.

and your friend with the 01 celcia, how many miles? did he change the oil on a regular basis? probably not. your mentality strikes me of a teenager and i haven't met a teenager that was pro-active when it came to the maintence of a car. way too many factors to just say ""well he thru a rod thru the block blah blah blah"".......he was probably not maintaining it properly (oil changes every 3k) and was also probably driving the piss out of it, and it probably has a high amount of miles....the driving the piss out of it shouldn't have caused it to fail, nor the high miles, but the combination of lack of maintence along with it will cause it to fail. hell lack of maintence will cause any motor to fail reguardless of who built it.........and it is an 01' so it is four years old.....go see how many celcias from 01 are still on the road compaired to how many 01 Audi's and GTI's with the 1.8t are on the road....cause the kid's in the video's isn't ever going to be again.

oh and tell your friend to go look on the internet, Japan has the tightest air quality control laws and a motor that would pass emissions one year won't the next....and there are companies that import those motors over here and sell them, they only have, usually, 30k on them and are in top shape. my friend did that when he had an accident with his oil pan and a curb and took out his motor. got another one for his toyota pick up truck for cheap and has been rocking it ever since.

Piston - That did go up quick. Kinda entertaining actually. The point here is, he did mods to cars. Could have possible been something that caused his turbo to seize. NOT just cause its VW.

And btw, about japanese cars sucking. My friend owns an undrivable 2001 Celica. He blew a rod through his engine. *coughs* Maybe VW made the parts??? *snickers*

Also, don't tell me to go back to my ""VW Forums"". That means to post here more often. This the only VW forum I post thank you very much.
