Relay Clicking – whenever it wants to

Just had my 2001 GLX Jetta into the dealer to fix (2) recalls or whatever they call them now (campains) that I thought would cure my relay clicking problem. Well it didn’t and the dealer gave me the old “”not sure what it is, sounds electrical”". The relay behind the hazzard button that clicks when you put any of the signals on is giving me trouble. It goes on and on and on whenever it wants to. Doesn’t matter if the blinkers are on or not?? I’m on my 2nd Jetta, still driving the 1st (1994) with 239k miles and I have learned that the quality has gone down hill since the early 90’s. Any clues to this problem?
Thanks.

Looked at the new Jetta close up – Impressive, but also scary at the same time.

I have to say I was impressed by how much Volkswagen loaded up the new car with so many “”luxury options”". Stuff that you only expected in bigger cars just a couple of years ago. Full automatic seats with programmble memory settings, dual zone climate control systems, heated seats, blue tooth connectivity, built-in garage opener transmitter…..etc. But they will have to prove that these multiple systems can take the beating of everyday use. Afterall, most of us will agree that reliability of electronics is not a Volkswagen/Bosch/Siemens forte.
Scary too because of the $27K+ sticker price for all that car. That’s an easy $30K OTR. I know that I must have looked at the full boat version, but I never imagined that any Jetta can be priced that high! With the Jetta seeming to cross over to (luxury?)midsized sedan territory, should they just kill off the Passat and just concentrate in improving the Jetta to take it’s place?

Farewell to VW!!!!!!!!!

The day has come! I AM FREEEE!!!! Took the B4 to the Scion dealership tonight and left her there. Drove home with my new TC!!!!!
Hate to say this, but even though the years with the B4 have been rough, I think I’ll miss her anyway. I always liked the look of the B4 GLX VR6, If only the reliability matched it’s looks. But with my long commute to work, I just can’t take anymore chances with it.
I took quite a big hit with the very low trade-in value for the B4, but I have a very bad feeling that the car is on the edge of needing something big done to it to keep her running, and with the price of servicing and parts from VW having shot up like crazy, I just can’t afford to keep her rolling.
the next 150K miles with this Toyota, I mean Scion, would be a breeze for sure!
So, like Rick and Shomare recently, I’m bidding everyone a big farewell and farewell to the land of Fartfernugen forever!
I can’t wait to drive to work tomorrow!
Keep the site going Paul, VW owners need ALL the help they can get, and it’s not coming from Wolfsburg or Auburn Hills anytime soon!

Monsoon strikes again

I bought an 02′ Jetta in December to replace a 95′ Accord that had a bad impact with a deer at 75mph. Since I bought the car, it’s done alright… so far. I’ve talked to so many people that just have random crap go wrong with thier VW’s. SO, about 2 months after I bought it, the stereo went out. The fuse was fine, we unplugged and replugged the harness, battery cable, every trick you can think of… nothing. After working for years on computers and trancievers, it is my conclusion that it’s the internal power supply. VW’s have alot of other crap that runs through harness and power supply to the stereo and it’s simply to much. I just had a new Sony aftermarket stereo installed today. Right out of the installation and the factory amp is bad too. I’m getting electrical feedback through my highs. What a bunch of garbage. Is there a way around having to replace the amp than anyone knows of??? Any help would be appreciated. Think I’ll stick to Hondas from here on out…

Oblivious Idiots

I received a letter in the mail from VW. Boldly written on the outside were the words “”Buyback”". Inside, the letter stated that my model VW was in demand on the used car market and for four days only my local dealer would offer generous trade in allowances towards the purchase of a NEW VW! WTF?

VWoA has had their head stuck up their posteriors for so long that the view looks normal for them.
