Light fixture melted
Has anyone ever heard of light fixtures being melted away by the bulb? This happened on my 99 jetta, fun times.

Light fixture melted – There has also been some reports of non-OEM/Hella Germany-Mexico made light bezels, specially replacement fog lamp assemblies, mainly from China, melting from exposure to just the regular heat from stock spec bulbs. These are sometimes put in to save money on collision repairs. Something definitely to check out in your case.

Light fixture melted – yes, seen it on the jettas a few times. it seems the bulb holders sit a bit closer to the fixtures in those tail lights than others cause i haven’t seen it in other models that take the same bulb…….oh and also what Chombi said is correct as well and worth checking into. you should be able to see a maker stamp on the inside that will tell the tale.

Light fixture melted – And it was the stock bulb? I’ve only heard of it happening to folks who put in aftermarket bulbs with, obviously, higher wattage.
