Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation

How can you explain shoddy parts?
BERLIN – Volkswagen AG’s personnel chief has submitted his resignation, the company said Friday a move that comes amid an investigation of bribery and kickback allegations at Europe’s biggest automaker.
“”…But he has come under pressure since news broke that German prosecutors are looking into bribery allegations against two personnel executives at the company’s Skoda subsidiary, amid reports that one of them took money from Volkswagen suppliers.”"
The company filed criminal complaints last week against Klaus Schuster, a former board member of its Skoda unit who resigned June 15, and Klaus-Joachim Gebauer, who was fired from VW’s personnel department.
Prosecutors have confirmed that they are conducting an investigation into suspicions of bribery. Gebauer’s attorney has said he was acting at Hartz’s behest.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – Lowering production costs by cutting overtime and rewarding quality is a fairly big overhaul, based on the link you yourself posted awhile back. This helps.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – Cutting their expenditures on prostitutes will help also.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – Now you’re just being nasty.

Just Being Truthful – The scandal is just unfolding. It may explain all the poor quality parts that go into VWs. Although they are trying to to cut costs, you would think that they would at least try and buy parts that worked.
Look at the bright side. If this leads to VW cleaning house, VW may someday make a quality car. I wouldn’t buy anything now, though.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – Oh, and I don’t want to hear: “All companies hire prostitutes”.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – Trimming the fat. Always a good thing.

Too Little, Too Late – I think they need a complete overhaul. Not a little trimming.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – I’m stunned you wrote “”look on the bright side”". You’re the depressed doomsayer, the guy walking around with an A-board on your shoulders crying the end is nigh, that VW is doomed.
I was the one saying VW was not doomed, but that it needed to change its direction.
Therefore, with regards to the shakeup, I view it as positive. In the recent months we have seen VW reduce the number of hours worked in overtime, switch rewards and incentives to rely directly from product quality and reliability versus simple sales, clean house, and last month meet with its North American dealers to receive their complaints (primarily that sales are down because VW has delayed and staggered the MkV launch plus only delivered high-end Jetta trims that cost more than the old Passat). The company isn’t in the red, but it finally realizes the danger.
I have always looked at it that way, on the bright side, as you put it. So you stating that? It just brought a smile to a face.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – Look at the bright side?
I’m sorry. I’m just stunned you actually wrote that.

Devestating Blow – This is going to be a major blow to VAG at a time when they can ill afford it. When all the facts come out, when all the criminal charges are filed, VAG will be devestated. Because of of his connections to Hartz and to VAG it may even bring down the Chancellor.
VAG will have to retrench and rebuild. I cannot see VAG’s enraged shareholders wanting to continue to subsidize VWoA. I think that VAG will withdraw from the North American market.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – VW’s overpriced junk and arrogant attitude are the reason that sales are declining for the fourth year in a row in America. And looking at VAG’s sleazy, arrogant corporate attitude, it is easy to see where VWoA got their ” the customer is always wrong ” attitude. American car buyers are telling VW to take their arrogant attitude and their junk and shove them.

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – And, as for my “”gloomy”" attitude: the car buying public has a right to know the truth about VW. After buying two lemons in a row and being insulted by VWoA I feel a certain moral obligation to let people know the truth about VW. And, obviously, there are many, many, more people who feel the same way as I do. The web is swamped with people screaming about how they were screwed by VW. Surprising as it may seem on a site named VWSUCKS but
VW SUCKS

Volkswagen’s Hartz Offers Resignation – You’re stunned that I wrote about it? But you’re not stunned that VW management actually did it?
