Porsche buys 20% of v/w

I always thought that German cars were the best? Porsche is buying 20% of v/w because both companies are scared that someone will buy one of them if not both. Who in the hell would want v/w this company sucks!!! They build there cars so that they don’t make there money from the car, but from the parts it takes to rebuild it. Thank about it My CASH COW tdi has a timing belt that if you talk with v/w should be changed at 40,000 miles if it is an auto, or 60,000 miles if you have a manual. Well I have a 5 spd manual and my dealer which is in Orange Park Fl. told me I had to change my timing belt at 40,000 miles. And my owners manual that v/w put out said it was 40,000 miles also. And like a good MONKEY I did and that total bill was $913.36 This was the first time I was SCREWED by v/w and my local dealers.

Porsche buys 20% of v/w – 4.75 hours to replace a timing belt!?

The 40,000 mile maintenance is expensive because it does take time, so the total cost there is actually quite reasonable (some come back with $500-600 ripoff costs).

The timing belt only gets changed at 60k but is inspected at 40k. If your belt showed wear it needed to be replaced. But 4.75 hours!? This is where they got you.

And they also got you on “”requiring”" the 40k to change the belt. I’m not debating this, though, since you did need to get it done. But you could have had the local shop do it, and their refusal to replace the timing belt without doing the 40k is pretty sleazy.

Porsche buys 20% of v/w – You really need to provide a link.

    The relevant article

    The important bit:
The acquisition of 20 percent of VW by Porsche would give Porsche, VW’s home state of Lower Saxony and Volkswagen itself a combined majority stake of 51.2 percent.

Lower Saxony is the largest VW shareholder now with 18.2 percent of its voting rights. Volkswagen itself holds another 13.0 percent voting stake in treasury shares.

Volkswagen, a German icon, is shielded from hostile takeovers by a 1960 law that caps shareholders’ voting rights at 20 percent, giving Lower Saxony effective control of the carmaker through its minority stake.

But the European Commission, which has repeatedly asked Germany to scrap the so-called VW law, last year took Germany to court over the matter, saying it violated European laws on freedom of investment.

Porsche buys 20% of v/w – If the dealer charged you over $900 just for a timing belt replacement, then you really got screwed. Do you have the bill of services? What else did they do?

Edit: if you have never been, you should really check TDI Club, you’ll find a wealth of information on your car, including the means to lower your costs in repair and maintenance. You already claim a vehement attitude towards VW and the dealerships, so to keep your head from exploding either find a reliable indie shop that knows its way around a MkIV diesel or learn to perform the basic maintenance and repair yourself.

HILLTOP MOTORS – I stopped going to the local dealers back in Nov of 2004. And found a local garage that works on my CASH COW TDI for a lot less. The biggest beef I have with the dealer I bought my car from is he said. That I needed to change my timing belt at 40,000 miles which was wrong and so was V/W of america. A manual transmission in a TDI doesn’t need a new timing belt at 40,000 miles It needs one at 60,000 miles.

I asked that dealer who changed my timing belt the first
I asked the dealer – To change the Timing belt only and he said he couldn’t that I would have to do the 40,000 mile check up at the same time. I said why if I only need a timing belt why do all that other stuff. And once again I was told all the same BULLSH?T, because this is how we do timing belt replacements.

The real funny part is? – I bet I didn’t need to change the timing belt at 40,000 miles. I took the dealer at his word, God what a DumbA$$. I didn’t put another timing belt on until 101,115 miles. I rechecked my numbers of the time for the belt replacement and yes that was the true amount these chimps put down. I looked at the mileage in and I was at 39225.

Porsche buys 20% of v/w – timing belt changes depend on year, believe it or not. so you may in fact need to be changed at 40k. vw/audi had fun there for awhile deciding to try 40/60/and even 80k between belt changes. the belts are actually different composion (yeah believe that stupidity) and actually have to be changed at different mileages…..however every e30 bmw i know of, reguardless of year needs it done at 50k (and they made these cars from 84-92) you would think vw/audi could find something and stick with it.

and diesel belt changes are a bit more, those belts are the hardest ones to change. still doesn’t change the fact that IT’S A DIESEL WITH A TIMING BELT….which in and of itself is just pure stupidity.
