How many unique complaints?
I was scared at first but it looks to me like the same 12 people posting dozens / hundreds of times each.
Im not saying there are not warranted complaints here but VW does not suck any more than other Manufs.
I’ve had 4 VWs – 3 Jettas and a Passat – no major problems.
I leased Jettas 3 x in a row because for the price the car kicks the crap out of anything else on the road – quiet, tight, drives great.
To be honest I hated everything else I could afford. The Jetta was a no-brainer.
Geting ready to jump up to the Toureag or however you spell it.
If I come home in another black Jetta I will need a divorce lawyer.
Im sure this post will keep the VWSUCKS faithful busy for a few days.
Good luck to everyone.

Very Sweet – It’s very sweet that you post as you have. But it is obvious that you have never dealt with VWoA. Or with a VW dealer when you have had a serious problem. But it is important to the children of the world, and to child like VW owners, that there are people such as yourself.

RE: “”good”" jetta – Congrats’! I’m glad you have had such a good experience with VW. You do understand even Yugo still has fans in the US who own several and swear to their reliability…right?
Obviously, you haven’t been paying too close attention to what is posted on this site.
There are people of both extremes on this site. VW salesmen (and former), techs, enthusiasts, cheerleaders, all-out haters, and people who just feel a little jaded from dealing with poor customer service and questionable reliability (me!).

You can imagine – I personally know two other people, other than myself, friends mind you, that had oil sludge issues with Passats. What are the odds of that, can you imagine? The dealers I talked to said they were getting ‘dozens’ a month comming in with the same problem.
And you know what? They put the same poorly designed engine in all of them, sad state of affairs. When VW goes down the toilet, I’ll be one of those who knows exactly why.

How many unique complaints? – The issue is with the poorly designed oil delivery in the longitudunal 1.8T engines. There is no sludge problem with transverse 1.8Ts, which for one, have a larger oil repository and filter, among other changes to the system.

want a cookie – good for you if you have been lucky with your vw’s…….go check out some of the enthuists sites out there for vw’s…hell the ones i use to belong to all agree that if you want something reliable, want it to last, not fall apart or require constant maintence, and also have a good dealer network…that vw/audi is not the car line for you. and these guys lived, slept, and breathed vw/audi (as did i at one time) and all agree that vw/audi isn’t what is was or should be. i could go and list all the problems with all the models and all the motors but given all the posts about all the problems you can easily do some reading and find them for yourself…..as they have already been covered time and again on this site.
