New GTI
Saw my first ‘06 GTI this weekend!
I think the new Jetta is ugly. I thought the new Passat was OK…up until I saw the rice burner white-out taillights on it. But, I really liked the look of the GTI.
I was in Ocean City, MD this past weekend and by chance VW Waterfest was there the same weekend. Tons of VWVortexers with hopped up “”whips”". The nicest thing about that was I saw some really, really nice old school rabits & GTI’s. I definatelty got a few looks from fellow ‘dubbers while driving my dirty GTI around…surfboards and all (lol). The only downside was that I had to make extra effort to obey speed limits because the troopers were on high alert.
Anyway, they had two ‘06 GTI’s in town for the show and I happened to see one driving around…I was pleasantly suprised (yea, it was right hand drive). If only we would get the 4-door GTI stateside arrgh. I thought it looked very, very nice. I’m not sure if that was the OEM car, or if it had been slightly modded to attract more attention at the show, I’m guessing the top trim GTI will be pushing 26K…so I won’t be shopping for one.
If anyone from VW is listening…
I am doubtful I’ll be buying another VW for a long time. The fact that VW refuses to admit that their products are less than perfect, and the unresponsive nature of VWoA “”Customer Care”" will difficult to forgive. Every person who commments on my car gets basically the same responce “”It’s a blast to drive, but VW Sucks.”"
With the prices of VW rising to the Audi ranks, I think the company must provide more than just “”dual climate control”". At that kind of money I would expect at least two years free service (which I think Audi does).
Well, that’s my $.0200

New GTI – Up until 2001 VW DID provide 2 years of free service (my car had that). I thought it was extended to 4 but the powertrain warranty dropped from 100k to 50k? Was this short-lived?
