Toyota Recalls – More to the point, it’s a Toyota recall, why equate that to anything related to VW, unless the recall is due to a VW-designed part that Toyota licensed?
In other words, I almost deleted the thread when it first went up, but decided some folks on here may own Toyotas and would like to know if something is up.
Toyota Recalls – moron- the fact that toyota issues a recall for some of their vehicles doesn’t absolve VW for making terribly unreliable (but slick looking) cars. it’s hard to imagine a toyota having the same exact problems model year after model year. i’m almost to 30k in my ‘04 tundra. not one problem. at this point with my ‘99 golf i was a fixture at the service dept. of my VW dealer.
the general decline of activity on this site tells me that the word has gotten out and that people just aren’t buying VWs. that is- except for VW toadies who think taking a swipe at toyota will somehow justify their loyalty to a lousy company.
VW stinks! – The “”they”" part is VW! Toyota is very forthright in handling recalls and customer relations. VW isn’t. VW’s are poorly designed and manufactured. (and poorly represented) Glad you left the post up.
I own both a Toyota Camry and a VW Jetta. No comparision. The best and the worst!
Toyota Recalls – At least Toyota fixes their problems. Unlike VW, who constantly tries to blame the owners for problems caused by their substandard engineering and poor quality control.
funny – cutting edge technology that had a hiccup and they are addressing the problem…..
meanwhile VW/Audi can’t even get a motor to go between oil changes without consuming oil….what was the norm? like half a quart for every 1000 or so? hell my 240k BMW doesn’t use any between oil changes and my Benz diesel with 300k on the clock still comes under what VW/Audi call “”normal consumption between oil changes”"
hey moron go MK4 jetta to the same year Camry’s for recalls and just overall problems (go check out consumer reports) and you can see the obvious winner, that’s pretty apples to apples right there unlike this orange you threw into the mix.
Toyota Recalls – Well, I’m glad to see this thread got activty now. Haha, I almost cried reading some of these. I agree with all of you. For the most part. My Passat hasn’t given me problems, besides when I bought it. I bought it with about $2,000 to work into it. Yea, VW does have amazing looking cars. I know 95% of you will agree with that.
Toyota Recalls – Doesn’t help that VW is “”watering down”" the Euro GTI with not as nice seats, wheels and different ride heights. Who knows what else they left out on the car for the US market. I guess there might be no way around DOT regulation ride heights(?) or maybe, pressure from insurance companies, but at least give Americans the nicer designed seats and wheels! The US GTI deserves it! It has been the traditional “”grass roots”" VW sports car all these years.
Toyota Recalls – Not just that, the GTI is the original pocket rocket, even if that title now refers mor to Japanese imports than the famous Rabbit.
The new MkV doesn’t help — it is in no way a pocket rocket. Actually, I wouldn’t mind a smaller car with cheaper (but tasteful) interior provided the investment goes into engine, transmission, and suspension. For the GTI, that’s more important than a luxury interior (the R32, while an amazing vehicle, is in no way a pocket rocket).
Toyota Recalls – Ok, your right paul. I should have specified. The new models at VW are just disgusting(jetta, passat, beetle). But the GTi still is a beautifuly crafted car.

OR MAYBE, THEY ARE MAKING VAST IMPROVEMENTS. WE ALL KNOW THAT 2000-EARLY 2002 WERE BLACK EYE YEARS ON THE FACE OF VW, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN FEW PROBLEMS SINCE THEN THAT WERE OF ANY MAJOR SIGNIFIGANCE, THE LARGEST BEING THE TIRE PREASSURE MONITORS, WHICH ACTUALLY WERE MANUFACTURED IN THE USA, NO SURPRISE. FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Leaning to the right…..A little bit too pro-VW!(?) – Paul. They stink! I hope that they never recover from this mess!

Toyota Recalls – I’m confused. Are you talking about Toyota or VW?
How am I leaning which way? I just stated that I thought it odd to put up a Toyota recall on this site, but figured it couldn’t hurt and let it be.

Toyota recall……. – Recalls aren’t a bad thing. It turns bad when you have “multiple problems” and don’t make it correct with your customer. eg. VWOA

Toyota Recalls – That depends. I remain unconvinced with the MkV Jetta and the New Beetle makeover is horrible.
