VW really does suck — $8,000 repair
My VW Jetta 1.8 turbo had only 50,000 miles. The oil light went on. My husband and I stopped and checked the it. There was very little oil in the car, and we put more in, confused why the level would be so low. We kept stopping to check the levels and it was fine. The lights always stay on after you put gas in, etc., so I thought the oil light was just being slow to turn off. The engine seized — oil wasn’t going to the engine. Because they found sludge, they say I didn’t change the oil regularly in my car. This was my first new car ever, and I was very careful about changing it every 4-6 months/4,000 miles, but don’t have all my receipts. I’m totally sick about this. Geico, my insurance carrier, says that VW is horrible about honoring warranties — the worst of any car company. They get tons of claims from VW owners. What a crappy company.

Up!
VW sales are climbing up for a 4th month. Guess new product and better quality control is all VW needed. JD Power rates Mechanical Quality and Comfort for Jetta over Corolla,Civic and Altima.
