Touareg

Volkswagen was a maker of a small car having the passat as the biggest car in the line before the Touareg came out. VW had no experience with SUV’s and we all know that the American market was basically nothing but gas guzzling, unnecessary sized cars just to drive the kids to soccer practice. Volkswagen went out on a limb and went for broke with the Touareg and what happened……..JD Power and Associates gave it best Luxury SUV the first year on the market…….hahahaha. I am not bashing the U.S. when i say this, but American cars do not compare to European engineering and styling and quality. JD power agrees with me also.

Touareg – Thats why Touareg’s sales are going in the dumper. Problem after problem after problem.
VW has single handedly destroyed the myth of “”German engineering”".

Touareg – Really? We have a V8, no problems. The problem with the Touareg is that it is too expensive. Now would I buy an Escalade or a Touareg, well that is an easy one. You can load up the Escalade and get over the 50K mark, but you get much more from a Touareg. The Touareg is a solid car. German engineering is no myth, but it cannot be destroyed by one company. Mercedes and BMW have had quality issues as well. SO what problems have you had with your Touareg?

Touareg – The real question is why is VW making an SUV in the first place. Of course I know the answer, and that answer just means consumers as a whole are just plain stupid.

Touareg – Volkswagen hit the nail on the head with the Touareg. It is a great car. The only problem is it is too expensive. Doing well in Europe. And I would say as competative as the American SUV industry it, it has done fairly well. It was a first try. I give them credit.

    Touareg – Are you serious….

If not being able to see in front of you because of SUVs were really dangerous, I’m sure they would have been banned by now.

Wow. Even in America? A country packed with all sorts of SUVs.

Touareg – The bigger the SUV, the bigger the blind spot: the SUV driver can back over people, especially small children, and with the increased mass is more likely to kill at lower speeds. Also, while driving on the road an SUV driver can make a lane change without being fully aware of the vehicles around him/her.

The car behind the SUV has limited visibility. You have to trust the SUV driver concerning the condition of the road ahead. If the SUV driver brakes too late because of a slowdown in traffic, your reaction time is increased by the SUV driver’s plus yours — it is very possible you will not have time to react.

Your argument about banning doesn’t fly. It’s the same idea as cigarettes. We know they can kill you, but they’re not banned are they? The closest we’ve gotten is to ban second hand smoke in enclosed public spaces.

The only solution for now is to give SUVs a very wide berth, perhaps eight to twelve car lengths on the freeway. But this solution points to the obvious: SUVs are dangerous to pedestrians and small vehicles.

Touareg – Of course, I find the Touareg a nice machine. I just don’t see the point of it in the city. I especially find it arrogant when a Touareg owner doesn’t bother to lower the height of the vehicle when driving in urban areas.

Touareg – It still means consumers don’t get it. Touareg or no, I am annoyed I cannot see anything of the road ahead when an SUV is in front of me.

Touareg

All this hype about how VW sucks so bad made me thing back to when the Touareg was first introduced. I remember buying a Car and Driver magazine at the bookstore, to only notice that the Touareg had just won best Luxury SUV. “Wow”, I thought to myself. “Just to think, this is the first time VW has done an SUV and to have it win in the US market.” Goes back to me thinking, AMAZING.
