I had terrible service from both VW and the dealership.

Most people don&#039;t catch it soon enough. I know I had that &quot;&quot;warm feeling&quot;&quot; when the warranty covered the repair. Lots of warm feelings. (Just read my profile)</description>

The problem with service issues at VW is that customer service backs up the dealership 100%, and if you disagree with the dealership, they tell you to bring your issue to customer service (who alway sides with the dealer).  Catch-22.</description>

Warranty clarification: the 2001 model has a 10 year/100,000 mile first owner warranty, which is halved for subsequent owners.  The warranty for 2002+ is 5 years/60,000 miles for the first owner.

Timing belt differences: the TDI engine runs at higher temparature and earlier designs required frequent timing belt replacement.  After 2002, TDI timing belt replacement periods were the same as the 2.0L and 1.8T engines.  The premature failure of your timing belt has nothing to do with the service interval of the TDI, but it failing so early is certainly an issue, since it&#039;s still earlier than the recommended every 60k.  In other words, your timing belt should not have failed so early and this should be something to address, but you can&#039;t use the TDI&#039;s service interval as part of your argument.

When did you purchase your car?  When did it fail?  For both, both the date and the mileage.
