immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls

The immobilizer is activated (I don’t know why…probably because I changed a new battery…)The radio needs reset and it says ‘code’ on its screen (There is a security code for it???)I’ve got only one key. The remote key box hasn’t been used for some time and it was bad.

How to deactivate the immobilizer? Is it possible to repair or replace the remote key box? How much would it be, normally? Is there a code for the key that I can use it to deactivate the immobilizer???

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – If all you did was change the battery then your Immobilizer is not activated. The Immobilizer prevents you from starting the car with your key. From what you atre describing you disconnected the battery and the radio went into anti-theft mode. The code it is asking is a four digit number you enter using the CD buttons on your radio. You should have this number. If you don’t, then you have to go to the dealer to get it.

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – If all you did was change the battery, then there should not be any problem with the immobilizer system, that being said I have seen the immobilizer system activate because the voltage from the old battery was too low.If the car starts and runs then your immobilizer is ok,if the car starts and dies and the immobilizer light is flashing try removing both battery cables from the battery and touch the 2 cables to each other for 15 seconds and then reconnect the battery. You will need to reset the throttle basic settings and erase all low voltage faults from the system. As for the radio look in your trunk around the spare tire area and see if there is a white sticker with 4 numbers on it if so this would be your radio code unless the radio has been changed at some point. You can contact VW and have them give you your radio code just give them name, vin number and radio security number on the side of the radio.the remote portion of the key can re replaced but has to be coded to the comfort module (power windows)or the central lock module (manual windows)

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – Thanks, paultakeda. I will contact the dealer…you know, I bought the car on the roadside without manual. nowhere to get the security code. Do you mean if I could get the 4 digit security code and input on the radio, the immobilizer will be activated so that I could start the car???

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – Quote vabeachautohaus’s words to someone else’s problem: “”the immobilizer can be activated by an incorrect key or a key that was not programmed to the the vehicle.what issue are you having?.there is a pick up coil on the ignition lock cylinder that recognizes the correct key code in the key.I have seen several different issues with the immobilizer system.will be glad to help but need more information.”"

Now I am also confused by what activates the immobilizer. I’ve solved the problem of the radio code…but problem of the activated immobilizer is still there. The alarm is beeping when trying to ignite. I am wondering if a key code would solve this. As I heard from the dealer that once I get the key code, I have to put the code every time when I get back to the car since the remote part of the key was bad…but before I changed battery there was no such problem. Every time it was very easy to open the door and inginite the car. Seems don’t need the key code…What could be the problem? Besides, I’ve tried “”removing both battery cables from the battery and touch the 2 cables to each other for 15 seconds and then reconnect the battery”"…

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – The breakdown service patrol said it’s a problem with the immoblizer and towed my car to an auto electrical company. The company said will disconnect the immobilizer using the machine to scan the code for immobilizer.
I am hesitating…is it really a problem of immobilizer? or a problem of alarming???What if after disconnecting the immobilizer, the beeping still there???

what i do and how the car responds – I could open the car door with the key. but as I use the key to ignite the car, the car is beeping and I can’t start it at all. I think it is in the anti-theft mode. Immobilizer activates and couldn’t start the car.

I tried a 4 digit key security code:put the ignition key (same key for the door) on the car door, do the turing left/right several times to input the code. but as I put the key into the ignition plug, lights are all on and the beeping also comes…so the immobilizer is still activated!

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – This is not the immobilizer activating this is the alarm module activating and locking out the starter circuit.Does the drivers door red L.E.D. by the lock button on top of the door panel flash when this happens?.This would be the drivers door latch assembly acting up.Unlock the drivers door and then without removing key turn to unlock position again and see if other doors all unlock and light goes out.If the light stays on lock all the doors with the key and repeat procedure on passenger door if there is a key slot on passenger door handle and see if the light on the drivers door goes out then.Scanning the comfort module or central lock module in value block 8 will tell you which zone is causing the alarm to activate.

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – The light on the drivers door went out as I unlock the drivers door using the key.

When I put the key into the ignition plug, turn to I, then the radio is on; turn to II, indicator lights on the dashboard are all on with beeping or alarming; turn to III to ignite, doesn’t work. Isn’t it a problem with the immoblizer? If so, even if I disconnect the immobilizer with the help of auto electrical staff, the car still can’t work???!!!

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – Clif ,this is not the immobilizer system. The immobilizer will allow the car to start but die after a few seconds and the immobilizer light on the instrument cluster will flash. This is an alarm issue.Does the alarm horn beep when you lock the doors?.Try this, roll all the windows down, and lock the doors you should see the red L.E.D. on the drivers door flash fast if it does not flash fast then one of the zones meaning dooe latches, trunk latch, hood and radio latch circuits is not operating correctly.Wait until the light flashes fast and then open each individual door, hood and trunk and see which one does not set the alarm off,you will have to relock the doors after each time you set the alarm off and wait for the L.E.D to flash fast.If all the systems operate normally then and I know this will sound stupid, disconnect both the lights in the drivers door panel and the passenger door panel and recheck system.Like I said in earlier post also, did the dealer look at value block 008 in the comfort module to determine the last recorded system that triggered the alarm source?.They will see that the first number would be the ignition because that set the alarm off but the second, third and fourth values should tell them what circuit on the vehicle is not arming.

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – This is not the immobilizer system, this is the alarm module activating. The immobilizer will allow the vehicle to start and run but just for a couple seconds, then the car will cut off and the yellow immobilizer light will flash on the instrument cluster.Does the alarm horn beep when locking the doors?.If it does not then there is an open zone somewhere on the vehicle. The L.E.D. on the drivers door will flash but it is a slow flash and after 2 minutes the light will flash fast this sets the alarm system. What you are experiencing is either one of the door latches, the hood latch switch and radio switch are on the same circuit and the trunk latch switch is showing a locked condition when you try to start the car.Try this, roll down all the windows and lock the doors,Look at the L.E.D.light on the drivers door and see if it is flashing slow or fast if it is flashing slow wait until the system sets itself and then open each door one at at a time, you will have to relock the doors and wait for the light to reset each time you do this, also open trunk and.If the alarm does not activate when one of these zones is opened then that is most likely your culprit, watch your dome light also make sure it comes on when doors opened. The dealer should have checked the comfort module or central lock module and checked value block 008 which will record the last 4 causes for the alarm system to activate. The first number most likely be the ignition switch due to trying to start the car,but the other 3 numbers fields 2,3 and 4 should tell them which zone is causing the problem.

immobilizer problem…vabeachautohaus, pls – When the Immobilizer is activated, you will see the key icon on your cluster flashing. That’s it. All the other stuff indicates an electrical problem somewhere, as vabeachautohaus described.

Last attempt before messing with electronics and scanning: disconnect the battery for at least half an hour. Reconnect, enter radio code, start car.

If that doesn’t work, then proceed as vabeachautohaus described.

Solved! – Thanks for the help. I’ve sorted it out! Superb!I tried all the suggestions I received and finally the car started. It seems it’s a combination of alarm and immobilizer problem.
