2004 Touareg Problems
My VW Tuareg has had all the problems you can imagine. From hesitation when accelerating, Stinky A/C, premature tire wear and tear, gas tank door breaking, headlights replaced 5 times, etc, etc. The worst part about this is that the car’s factory warranty is about to end so I’m selling the car as soon as possible. VW of America sent a tech guy who is the equivalent of a Neanderthal to check my car and give me attitude about it. I hate this car and VW of America sucks!

2004 Touareg Problems – All those items you mentioned are pretty typical problems with Touaregs (specially the 2004 model) plus many more that could raise their ugly heads with you T-reg soon if you don’t get rid of it soon.
Stepper motor problems
Drive shaft mid support bearing failure
Dash wood applique finish cracking
Alternator grounding problems
TPMS system failure
are just a few more typical Touareg problems that hit many owners.
Forget about finding a solution for premature tire wear. It seems like this is normal for Touaregs. Owners have repeatedly had their T-regs realigned by the dealer to factory specs with no resulting changes to the tire wear rates afterwards.
T-regs eats tires!
Note that the later models seem to have some of these dealt with by VW though but you do hear of these problems still cropping up with some later units.
Maybe you should consider the Porsche Cayenne to replace you T-reg. Porsche has been scoring high in reliability polls lately.
Good Luck!
