Jetta Window problem

I am long time supporter of VW products and my most recent Jetta (3rd Jetta, 7th VW) has been a mediocre at best. The passenger window decided it was time to break loose from the Mickey Mouse contraption to lowers and lifts into position broke away. The car is 3 months out of the extended warranty and very low mileage (43k), I was hoping the VW “Customer Care” would see in their heart to cover it under a slightly extended warranty because I failed to use my window enough to force it to break in 7 years. They declined. Therefore, instead of buying the new Jetta this year as I was planning, I will not. My 25 year relationship with VW is done. I will no longer support the brand as I have against the naysayers. I now am forced to agree with couple my friends that have been burned by VW, that it not only doesn’t produce cars with high levels of engineering and performance anymore, the basic quality sucks as well. Good luck VW.

Jetta Window problem – I actually minimized using my Passat’s window and sunroof the whole time I owned it. It actually kept the things from breaking……until seven years into ownership, a VW service department mechanic decided to open the drivers window and slam the door shut while they had it. Window fell out of it’s track/clips………..so, not surprisingly, they decided to try and charge me to fix it when I got back to pick up the car…..Apparently they did not know who they were dealing with. I’m certainly not a guy that will bend over and take it from VW. This they found out real quick and loud!!
My advice is to do the same with your windows and sunroof (don’t use/operate them!) if you want them to be trouble free……….just like real modern cars.

Jetta Window problem – If the window clips in your vehicle are the cheap plastic clips that plagued vw as we all know, these were recalled and there is a recall notice that was sent to all the vw owners about this one.If the dealer is trying to charge you for this repair they are wrong period.

Jetta Window problem – there is no recall regarding the window clips. vw extended the warranty coverage to 7 years with no mileage limitation. so if the vehicle is older than 7 years by the inservice date, vw will not pick up any cost of repair.

Warranty Extension vs. Recall Known problems……… – This is another way that VWOA screws its customers. This window clip problem has been going on since 1995. I purchased a 2000 Jetta with bad window clips (cheap poorly designed plastic) and it took VWOA 2 years to redesign and fix with proper metal ones. That is a total of 7 years to get a fix! Unacceptable!

If they can’t fix the little things how do you think they make out on the larger problems?

People that use their windows a lot will break them much sooner. If you only use your passenger window several times a year…..It might go for years without breaking….(pick a number 5,10,15) But when it does, and if it is over the 7 years
then the customer has to pay! ($250) But then they get the good redesigned metal one’s!

This is just like the glove box hinge issue. I used mine about 6 times per year and it has broken 3 times. Poor design and cheap plastic. And VWOA did their normal duck the issue on it entirely.

Be sure to read my profile. Not good.

Nothing but problems. – DRIVING HOME TO PA FROM THE MD VW DEALERSHIP! That’s when my oil pump blew. Soooo dependable! What a car! I had to pay for towing, storage, and the oil pump replacement up front until my warranty was transferred over–AND they didn’t cover towing, storage, or get me another car. All this my first day!
What a way to start out, huh? :^O
Since then, 3 of my windows have fell in, 2 at the same time (during record rains and floods) from these piece of crap white-plastic window clips: Recalled on EVERY MODEL EXCEPT THE PASSAT!
Why? It’s the same part #, same generic VW problem, same excuse for the dealership to make $$$$ off of us. But Jettas get more attention, because every Daddy’s little GIRL owns one. Oh, and one shattered inside the door, so i’m really at a loss.
Anyone think i have a good reason not to like VW now?

I have checked Ebay, but didn’t find jack. Most are for Jettas, before 2002, and we all know Jetta is 2-3 years behind Passat in development.
Anybody know of how to find the new metal clips, or go about getting these fixed by VOA?
