Screwed by VW!

While racing along the U.S. Forest Service fire roads in southern Colorado, I hit a tree stump and a huge hole with my ‘02 GTI (almost flipped over!), which resulted in a cracked 17″ rim and a torn off oil pan. After the oil light came on, I drove as fast as I could back to Denver and to an authorized VW dealer, who told me that I shouldn’t have used the GTI for off-roading and that I would be responsible for the repairs to my 5 year-old VW. And that they wouldn’t replace my broken rim under warranty. What BS! I paid good, hard-earned money for this car! It’s outrageous that VW won’t pay for damage caused by so-called “off-road” use! Who the hell do those Germans think they are? They wouldn’t shampoo the carpet to get rid of that moldy sour milk smell from the venti latte that the got spilled cause of that damn tree stump either. I’m with “VW Victim” (even though his/her name and obsessive whining makes it sound as though VW slipped him/her a roofie at TGI Fridays, then…you know). The should at least, I dunno, send someone over to blow me or something. VW SUCKS!

Screwed by VW! – “”While racing along the U.S. Forest Service fire roads”" pretty much says it all.

Your GTI is not an off-road vehicle. You paid good hard money for the car and you made the decision to drive aggressively on a dirt road. Somehow, I don’t think even the more avid anti-VW folks on this board will have much sympathy for your plight.

Screwed by VW! – Yea, and I’ve been using my golf to drag-race pickup trucks while towing my 33 foot sailboat and I can’t understand why I’ve burnt out the clutch, replaced brake pads and replace the shocks & springs in the rear of my car WTF. Also, I keep getting all this rust from backing it into the Chesapeake Bay while launching my boat. They say that because I’ve been regularly submerging it in salt-water they “”rust-warrany”" doesn’t apply.

Seriously I hope you were joking…I think you were.

Good enough point though. In all seriousness I wonder how so many people seem to have major issues from day-to-day use. I cracked an oil pan and can’t remember bottoming out. I need new strutt mount bearings, why? Because I drive my car everyday?

Anyhow, I may very well soon be getting out of the VW grind all together. I purchased a ‘90 325i bimmer on ebay and as long as the paperwork checks out and everything is as described…I’ll be selling my VR6. I don’t mind replacing shocks on a 16 year-old car, and as long as I don’t have a payment or a catastrophic failure, I win.

Screwed by VW! – hafta agree with Paul T…i don’t think your ‘02 GTI (which i believe has a low profile already…and i know cuz I have a 2000 Golf GTI and it’s a challenge to even go over speed bumps!) is made to drive over such terrain…perhaps if you raised your GTI to have a higher profile, you’d be able to navigate on the U.S. Forest Service fire roads in Southern Colorado.

Paul, Paul, Paul – I was being sarcastic, Paul. I was just annoyed because many of the posts these days are written by people with unreasonable, unrealistic expectations of their vehicles. And for some reason a lot of folks seem to think VW is indebted to them for life because they bought a Jetta back in ‘01. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my ‘02 GTI, but I keep it mostly because it’s pure joy to drive. Yeah, things break and it’s needed more than a few repairs, but it’s a lot of fun and it was very reasonably priced. My everyday transportation is a BMW R1200GS, but on days when I need a car I love driving this one. Seriously, though, don’tcha ever want to bitch-slap some of these whiners? I’d forgotten all about this old post. Must have been written is a post-martini haze.

    Screwed by VW! – Motorrad,
Tell me what’s unreasonable and unrealistic when at over 14,000 miles, my Scion has not even flashed me any idiot lights or leave me stranded on the side of the road since I drove it off the dealer’s lot Nothing, Nada, Zero, Zilch has broken on the car, and I’ve pushed it really hard numerous times!
At 12,000 miles, I was already thinking I was crazy to have even bothered with my chronicly sick Passat. AC, ECU, and Alternator had already died by that mileage, with the ECU and the alternator leaving me stranded far away form home on dangerous highways. Plus multiple CEL and ABS warning light events all from a 27,000+ dollar car from 1997. Certainly not a cheap car back then.
    Toyota = real car
VW = Joke of a car……..but Oooooh it’s just sooo fun to drive! So you expect people to suffer through endless breakdowns and thousands of dollars of unexpected spending just to keep it on the road. YOU should get real!
Oh, by the way, the Scion tC is soooo fun to drive too!
My friend’s 1989 Toyota mini truck just broke 250,000 miles and it’s still ready to do another 100K! We kick that thing around when ever I ride with him on it and he only gives it the most basic of maintenance, with the cheapest of oils and tires. We’ve carried tons of cargo on it helping numerous friends move across the State. VW can only dream of that these days!
Oh, I also owned numerous Hondas. All for over 150,000 miles. Worst that ever happened to any of them was I had to change one alternator at I think was around 117,000 miles (83 Accord). That’s it! Even the original Yuasa batteries in them lasted up to ten years. Same with the clutches, never had to change a single one. That’s what I call close to 100% quality from a real car company!
So before you say and think that we are not being realistic with our expectations, you better really know what you are talking about!

You did read the Toyota article, right, Chombi? Did you miss this part?

Toyota faces a criminal investigation by prosecutors in southern Japan questioning whether quality-control managers delayed a recall that could have prevented an accident in 2004 that injured five people, including three children.

Yes, I don’t have my evil Passat anymore, and I continue contribute to this forum, because the more trouble-free fun miles I put on my Scion tC (read Toyota!) just continue to reinforce the fact that VW is a such sub-sub-par car manufacturer. I’m still kicking myself for spending all those years and dollars with that creepy car! Never again!
And I will continue to warn everyone I encounter whose considering to go the Dark side of VW!
P.S., I still don’t understand why you moderate this site if you seem love VW so much and seems to be very forgiving of the company’s many sins, Paul! Could it be possible that your work adress reads VXXA, Auburn Hills, Michigan? Just a theory!

Screwed by VW! – The big difference is, Toyota is willing to issue recalls when there is a problem with their cars and fix it, while VW just lets you suffer. Dealers giving you the big lie always saying, “” we don’t know of this problem, when it’s all over the internet VW sites. Fighting owners constatnly for the most minor warranty claims. I know, I went through quite a few myself with VWoA.
Oh, just for your reference, here’s a recent post on the “”MY lemon VW”" site.
    Quote:
“”When I adjust the driver side mirror on my mk4, the passenger side moves as well. However when I flick the toggle to the passenger side, only that door mirror moves!
Took it to the VW dealer who said this was how it was designed, however I don’t remember this happening before.

Is it how it’s designed OR have I been fobbed off by the dealer? Before you ask, it’s only a Match model, so I dont think there’s an option in the “”computer”" to adjust these…..

    Any ideas!?!”"

    Here’s another duesy!
    Quote:
So Ive had my Touareg (2005 V8) for 10 months, its been in the shop for 39 days since I bought it. All sorts of electrical problems, also some problems with the air suspension, not to mention about a dozen rattles, broken pieces of trim, and other minor nuisances. I would tell anyone looking to buy a VW, particularly a Touareg to RUN as fast as you can away from the dealership. I must say my dealership, Jim Ellis in Marietta, GA, has been great. They have bent over backwards to help me, however they can’t help the fact that VW builds pieces of shit.
Anyone been through a lemon buyback with them. I am in the process now and they aren’t making it easy!

Doesn’t these sound so typical?! Hah!

Screwed by VW! – I’m not judging anyone who chooses Toyotas. Much happiness, luck and long lives to you all. I sometimes wonder what I’m thinking for choosing the sensory thrill of driving a European car or a motorcycle instead of the bland reliability of Asian cars. Then I find myself in a rented Toyota or Nissan and I relalize that, for me, life’s too short to drive a car that’s not nearly as interesting as a well-designed can opener. I almost envy those of you who actually beleive the Camry is “sweet,” but truth be told I’d rather drive a somewhat troblesome European car than sit behind the wheel of a yawn-inducing Asian sedan. Enjoy that Scion. Just make sure you stay awake behind the wheel.

    Bend Over Buyers – Chombi

There will always be Bend Over Buyers willing to buy VW’s. They continue to bend over and say: “”Give me the VW experience”". The term is masochist.
VW tells them that it is normal to have to bring your car back to the dealer on a regular basis for things that go wrong. The dealer continues to bend the VW owner over and give them the “”VW Experience”". The VW owner sniffs and arrogantly states that “”VWs are fun to drive”". “”All other cars are appliances”". Pathetic.

Screwed by VW! – Well, for one thing that Toyota issue was mostly a Japan market incident. And anyway, Toyota STILL serves it’s international market very well. I haven’t been so happy taking my car to the dealerships for my servicing after all these years and being treated like I bought a 40 thousand dollar car from them.
And damn it, the car is just running PERFECT, and unlike a lot of VWs, nothing’s falling off of it, No warning lights for over a year of driving and despite what Motorrad’s got embedded in his mind about all Japanese cars, It’s a blast to drive fast! Check out all the VW sites and you’ll notice that even a lot of European owners are starting to voice out the same problems VW owners are having in the States, with their cars and with their service networks.
And yes Paul, we are not dumb, we can read between the lines when you post, you really sound like you have this soft spot for VW with your quick counterpoints when someone complains about VW. Afterall, you should remember that this site is called “”VW sucks.com!”"……….will you ever get it after all these years????

Screwed by VW! – Of course, my mentioning that my VW runs PERFECT will hold no water with you.

You didn’t read clearly: I am stating that blanket love or hate for any company is a ridiculous position to hold. My soft spot for VW is in the character of some of its vehicles, warts and all. This doesn’t mean that this position means I dismiss those who think otherwise, but constant attacks even after you no longer have the car is just plain weird. You realize that when Rick got rid of his Jetta he no longer needed to hate, and that he gave the site to me. Perhaps you should remember why he did, or haven’t you gotten it after all these years?

I think, you’re a little wierd yourself for moderating a site that you do not seem to agree with 100%. At least I take breaks away from here. This site was made to complain and voice out the reality VW crappiness. In the end you ARE a VW lover. And if after what you have read in here all these years and you still do not get it, I definitely feel so sorry for you. So so blind you are.
Why don’t you just close down this site and apply to Vortex as a moderator where you will be appreciated wholeheartedly! I really feel like you just set up justifyably frustrated VW owners here with your and guys like Motorrad’s counterpoints and cynicism. whenever they post.

Truth – People who are buying a car should know the truth about Volkswagen. If I had come to this site, and others like it, before i bought my two Volkswagens, I would have saved myself 6 years of misery. Knowing the arrogance and screw the owner attitude of VW gives the people that have been screwed by VW the incentive to get the truth out.

Screwed by VW! – If the moderator himself cannot let posts or threads like VWVictim’s stand or continue in a site that titled “”VW Sucks”", then there’s no point in him continuing with this site. It’s a joke and does not serve the intended original purpose of the original author of the site. Give it up Paul, and spend happier VW times at Vortex! Anyway, VW would be so happy if this site goes away…..unless you hand it over to another person who FULLY understand the problems and frustrations we had with VW. You don’t qualify Paul, cause you, for some reason, was able to chance upon buying one of those very very rare “”perfect”" (I’ll take your word on it.) VWs and is so happy with your car

Justified Disgust – Yes, every manufacturer has problems. Most try and correct the problems and make the customer happy. VW blames the customer and tells them they don’t deserve to be driving A VW. VW is at the bottom of everyones quality list. If owners seek redress from VWoA they are insulted: “” Yes we screwed you but we would like the opportunity to continue screwing you”". And you wonder why people develope a hatred for VW?
If the people that have been wronged by VW come to this site they are further insulted by the VW fanatics. And you wonder why they get disgusted?
Are VW owners supposed to be masochists?
Should VW’s sales pitch be: “”Masochists Wanted”"?

Talk about misguided blind logic from these guys. Now that’s disgusting!
And what is so wrong with hating car companies. All I hear from VW fans in VW sites is how they hate Honda, Toyota or anything built in Asia on four wheels because they are “”appliances”" or so so boring to drive. Take a look at the mirror before you post such ridiculous statements Jorgabwagenmiester!

Screwed by VW! – this is excactly what i am talking about. take the blinders off for a moment vw victem and chombi. i have never once stated that i hate other car manufactures. i have worked for chrysler, mitsubishi and vw. vw is neither my favorite or least favorite. just because you had a bad experience with your vw does not mean every one has. you are entitled to your opinions however. and you are entitled to relay your experiences to anyone that is willing to listen. butn to again attack paul or myself is ignorant. this goes for the opposite as well for someone to label anyone with a problem as whining complainer is ignorant as well. i am willing to give anyone advice that would like it as is paul as well. i would think that someone like chombi or vw victem would be aprreciative of this. i guess not however. let me go over a few things that vw has done for customers that i see on a day to day basis. and you tell me if they should be covered or not. 03 bpassat 28000 miles on it. customer readily admits that only had one oil change done at 5000 miles. guess what sludged? now the customer has gone 23000 miles over the recommended oil change. vw covered the repairs 100 percent no questions asked. clearly this was caused by customer neglect. 05 passat with egg splattered on the paint and dried. customer has no idea how it got there and in her mind it is a defect of the paint. once again vw stepped up and covered the repair. 03 jetta with a bad o2 sensor. customer went and had it repaired at a non vw repair facilty. because she thought it was a dangerous condition. vw was under no obligation to reimburse the customer. however they did and they also paid to have an oem part installed in the vehicle because what was used as the original replacement was not an oem part. now i am not saying they step up and help every customer no one can. but those three instances are more than what i saw chrysler or mitsu do for anyone than i ever saw. i am very fortunate to work for a great dealer. we have good support from our vw reps. we have great csi reports, our csi is averaging out at 92.3 for the past three years. the techs that i have are excellent. i will be more than willing to give advice when needed. and i will keep the cynacims to a low if vw victem and chombi can do the same
