VW
Thanks, Paul, for the long overdue upgrade and redesign. But is it all for naught? Recent angry contributions to the site have been almost exclusively written by folks who don’t even own the brand anymore (Hi, Chombi & VWVictim!). Sure, the occasional oil sludge issue or window complaint finds its way here, but the legions of angry, dissatisfied owners have, largely, evaporated like spilled 92 octane on the fender of a black GTI. In Barstow. In July.
Has VW finally dragged its very recently unreliable ass out of the ditch? Have those of us who owned VWs during their darkest hours finally worked the bugs out of our cars? Looks like it might be so. On both counts.
To this day planning a 300 mile drive causes me to consider renting a car rather than driving the VW. I still don’t entirely trust it, but I still love it.
I fully expect, someday soon, to type in vwsucks.com and instead get “”Server Not Found.”"

- You may also find that there are fewer posts because many of the issues were addressed in older threads, and that visitors find these threads and their answers without needing to post.

Making an Assumption? – You assume I no longer own a VW? I refinanced my house so that I could afford to take the loss on the Passat. Put it up for sale for $2000 less than the blue book value. Not a single inquiry on it. Will have to take the loss on a trade in. Salesmen laugh when you tell them you want to trade in a VW.
The way VWoA is losing money, I suspect you are right about not finding VWSucks.com on the web in the future. I don’t think VWoA is going to be around much longer.

- Sorry that VW has ruined your life. If you are truly in the situation that many Americans find themselves in, i.e. one auto breakdown away from financial ruin, I apologize for my insensitivity and I understand your frustration. Folks who live paycheck-to-paycheck should absolutely, under no circumstances, buy any European automobile.
The most reliable car I ever owned was a 3 cy Geo Metro. Fun? No. (OK, maybe a little). But it never cost me a dime aside from routine service and I drove it for 8 years while I was saving to buy a house.
European cars are, IMHO, never appropriate for anyone who can’t deal with an unexpected breakdown or costly service issue.

Another Assumption – Now you’re making another assumption. You are assuming that all European automobiles are junk like VW’s. The other German car makers are furious with VW for single handedly torching the myth of German engineering.
What should be said is that if you cannot afford to waste money on a POS car, do not buy a VW. If you cannot afford to spend the time bringing your car back to the dealer over and over and over again, do not buy a VW.
If you can afford these things, and you can keep telling yourself that “”VW’s are fun to drive”" then, by all means, bend over and take “”the VW experience”".

“”Soup’s On!”" – I honestly feel sorry for whomever has to sit across the dinner table from you, Mr “”victim.”" You must be a lot of fun to live with. Ban me if you wish, Paul, but this guy has serious emotional issues that go way beyond his victimization by VW, and I don’t understand why anyone other than his mother, who’s probably upstairs in the kitchen cooking dinner right now, caters to him.
It is interesting, though, that the other German manufacturers are sending VWVictim secret messages through his foil hat, telling him that they’re “”furious.”"

- Actually, Mercedes proposed a collaborative amongst German carmakers in order to promote “”German Engineering”" and quality control, which has taken a PR hit in recent times.
I’m terribly sorry that you are so upset, the truth hurts sometimes. But it is important that the truth comes out. People that are looking for cars should be aware of all the problems involved in owning a VW so that they may make an educated buying decision.

- Motorrad, how much is VW paying you to pimp their company?
Seriously–you do all the things I expect out of someone running a sleazy political campaign: slur honest people, pay lip service to past problems to pump your credibility, and make baseless assertions about “”improved quality.”" Tell me: would you own one? No, wait, don’t tell me. It would just be more b.s..
