blinking dash light

Recently in cold weather my 2001 Jetta wouldn’t start. I left it at home while it got warmer since I don’t have another car to jump it with. Later that day it started pretty well, but the clock was wrong and now the panel that displays whether the car is in park, drive, etc. keeps blinking on and off. The car is driving fine as usual but the display continues to blink. Any ideas?

    - Could be an undervoltage condition or a bad ground connection not getting enough juice to you instruments. You might have to get a shop manual to find all the grounds, but if your battery is still the original Varta(?), it would be good to consider changing it first to see if it makes a difference, then go for a ground connection problem search. The Varta batteries are low quality junk…..just like these cars they put them in.
