VWoA Moving From Auburn Hills?

The general rumor is that VWoA is moving from Auburn Hills to the “” DC area”".
Perhaps the reason that VWoA has not announced the location that they are moving to is that they are not moving but withdrawing from the North American market?
In any case, VWoA could save themselves a lot of money if they moved their operations to an offshore phone bank. When you called VWoA to complain about your VW you would be sent through a series of connections until you reached the message: “” VWoA will not cover that under warranty”". The outcome would be the same and they would save a ton of salary by not paying “”customer service”" reps.

More like concentrating on expanding the North American market. – The strength of the euro and the relative weakness of the dollar means building factories in North America has become feasible, especially because of increased demand taxing the Central and South American factories.

Moving out of Detroit is considered a move towards expansion.

You should actually be glad. It means they’re following Toyota’s lead and may well likely bring along with increased presence a better customer service system.

The major downside is for Auburn Hills. Detroit’s been suffering a long, slow decline for decades now. For the automobile industry of Detroit, this is just another nail in the coffin.

For VW… well, VW will never leave North America. There’s too much to gain and too much to lose.

A Billion Dollars a Year To Lose – With miserable sales figures after a massive sales push I would be surprised if VWoA did not end up with another billion dollar loss in 2007. That, I would say, is too much to lose. The future looks bleak for VW in America.
