2008 Sales
VWoA reported January sales. http://www.media.vw.com/
Sales for January of 2008 were down 13.2% from January of 2007 figures.
Dismal figures for a company that last year was talking about turning a profit in North America by 2009!

VW is advertising heavily ( Drive and sign ) and is discounting their cars heavily. It should be interesting to see what the 2008 financial losses are for VW group of America. VW is heavily subsidizing Sales in North America in an attempt to win back larger sales numbers, For the sake of people that are now buying VWs lets hope that VW heavily subsidizes their warranty program.

May Sales Up 0.1% – VWoA reports May 2008 sales up an impressive 0.1% from May 2007 figures. Year to date figures are up 0.6%. The massive ad campaign and incentives are realy making VWs fly out the door at the dealerships.
Does anyone know how much money VWoA lost in North America last year? VAG seems to be burying this figure deep in their annual financial report.
In regards to the massive ad campaign: if you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig.

These figures are as reported by VWoA.
Dismal figures for a company that wanted to raise their sales figures to over 500,000 units. They will be hard pressed to sell half that amount.
The massive ad campaign and the incentives have got to be costing VW a considerable bit of change.
Brooke Shield’s career has got to be pretty much bottomed out if she is shilling for VW.

December Sales Down 14.4%
VWoA (http://www.media.vw.com ) reports sales for December of 2008 were down 14.4% compared to December of 2007 figures. Overall sales for 2008 were down 3.2% compared to 2007 figures. These are very disappointing figures for VWoA. They advertised very heavily and offered deep discounts in an effort to increase sales. They had to have suffered deep financial losses in North America. This from a company that fields cars that suffer enormous quality control issues. I wouldn’t want to have had a VW that needed warranty work.
