Buy American
The fact of the matter is; No American should be buying a non American car. Times are tough. Americans should be rallying behind American car makers. No American should be buying a car from a manufacturer that basically say’s; “Fuck American car buyers. they are stupid enough to buy Volkswagen. Fuck them”

What’s American - Oh man why am I bothering with this… guess I’m bored. This argument is so old and really ended in the early 70’s with Plymouth re-badging Mitsubishi’s.
For entertainment sake here goes…
What’s American? If the number one truck manufacturer makes a large portion of it’s truck in Canada is it still American? Is it tough. If American manufacturers import there cars from Asia or South America and re-badges them are they American? If German cars are made in South Carolina do they handle worse than their German counterparts. If English people in England buy awesome American cars (that we can’t get here) are they not helping the American company? Are the thousands of American Honda, Toyota, Nissan workers bad people? The energy and quality crisis has been going on since the ’70’s. American manufacturers and citizens had fair warning that we are being hosed by OPEC since the early 70’s. Quality has been a complaint for years, yet Ford still makes a Focus that comes complete with recall notices. The Buy American days ended in the early 70’s. get with it.
We are experiencing what we all wanted - capitalism. In true capitalism the bad product will die out, the good product will survive. The trick is you can’t force it.

Being American - Being American means not considering yourself as being above your fellow American. There is a class of elitist snob in this country that consider themselves to be above the “”Hoi Polloi”". They sniff there nose at fellow Americans and buy “”superior German cars”". The fact of the matter is that while American cars had their problems, they have pulled themselves up and are the quality equal of any car in the world. Even the gold standard, Mercedes, has seen their quality reputation tarnished. And VW is just plain junk with delusions of grandeur.
If everyone in the US that was going to buy a car bought a US car, the economy would take an immediate upturn.

How about VW’s new plant in Tennessee? Is that American enough? 2,000 jobs for hard-working middle-class Americans. Maybe Toyota’s plants? BMW’s forthcoming facility?
